As well as improving musically, each person's communication and interpersonal skills improves along the way .The bands learn to cover famous Rock and Pop classics from Black Sabbath to The Beatles, and from Jimi Hendrix to Bruno Mars. You'll learn how songs are developed and how to improvise in your own style.We offer regular opportunities for the bands to perform in public, which helps your confidence and skills improve immensely.Song writing is encouraged within each band, helping you develop your own personality. I can highly recommend this place,we have looked for a long time to find the right teacher for our son in both singing and guitar tuition. We are not disappointed! The teacher is a genuinely nice person and our son loved his first lesson.I have a good feeling about this place! UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since joining Upbeat over two years ago from me writing this review I can honestly say hand on heart it was the best decision we ever made. These guys are like a family to our son. He has performed with his band Matty on bass guitar and Naomi on drums and vocals at different venues,The Cube,The magnificent Waterloo and an open air concert in Blackpool. He has not only flourished but has gone on to write his own songs. His music has guided him through the toughest of times and His teacher Ian has been a great influence. If you are considering bringing your child to lessons here,don't hesitate,it's the best decision you could make too!
My son Luca started out playing guitar at the age of 10. He enjoyed his private guitar lessons at home but he didn’t really have a goal, and this can make kids give up. My friend told me about upbeat and Luca hasn’t looked back since. He’s played some amazing venue’s from the Blackpool illuminations switch on at age just 11 with the brilliant Aftershock, to regularly playing as a support act with his band Parrilla at the amazing Waterloo pub Blackpool. Getting Luca to band is never a chore as he loves every minute spent at upbeat, and not just for the music but the friends he’s made for life there. I highly recommend Upbeat and just wish there had been something like this when I was a kid
Since my son joined upbeat 18 months ago when he was 7, he has now become the lead singer of a kids band within the academy and had some very good opportunities presented to him through Ian the owner. They really try to bring the kids on and Lennon and Will are fantastic teachers. In my opinion Upbeat really does rock!
Ian has created a brilliant space to train and or for bands to rehearse music. Well laid out with numerous playing and rehearsal rooms.
My two children both study here and it has been a lifesaver in so many ways. The performance side has lifted their confidence after Covid and one of them has been inspired to pursue music academically/as a career. Most of all, they love it!
I have been a student at UpBeat for 2 years learning vocals and guitar. I have progressed immensely with Ian since I have started. I have not only gained confidence but I have improved my performance skills and technique. Through UpBeat I have had the opportunity to perform at gigs with has enabled me to meet new people and step out of my comfort zone as well as gain experience. The staff at UpBeat are very welcoming and I look forward to my lesson every week.
A great place with great facilities also well run and equipped. Dedicated tutors and good for young and not so young.
