It’s a good university with a beautiful campus and park called highfields park.
it's a beautiful university, and one of the top ones in all of UK. The campuses are extremely pretty with lush green parks, tress everywhere, and lakes. You'll see so many birds and animals around you, ducks, pigeons, geese, and deer, it's crazy. To be here is to be in the midst of nature while still living a modern day life!
This review is based on the management team of the University of Nottingham and their discriminatory nature, ignoring my complaint as a non-white parent. Nepotism is rife and the managers are only in post because they are friends with each other. There is no due diligence and the way that they handle complaints is disturbing. This review is based on my interactions between Joanne Brown and Julie Bonser. They are both managers of the swim school. The swim school is great as are the student teachers. My initial complaint was about Joanne Brown and her unprofessional attitude. My daughter has attended the swim school for 5 years, starting at 18 months old. I have spoken to Joanne Brown twice, once over email and one face to face. She was rude and unfriendly on both occasions. I have never had this issue with the other staff. My initial complaint was due to an unacceptable incident that happened as follows: On Sunday 15th September 2024 at 11:30am Joanne Brown taught a lesson with multiple children, one of which is my daughter. Firstly, Joanne’s teaching manner is inappropriate for 6 year olds. She hates children so I don’t understand why she is teaching kids. Unlike the other student teachers who teach in a friendly, fun and competent manner, Joanne is very strict, authoritarian and talk’s unnecessarily loud. She spends most of the lesson unnecessarily talking so she can feel like a big woman and stamp her authority. Swimming should be fun and Joanne’s teaching style is very militant, similar to that of a secondary school maths teacher. She’s basically like Miss Trunchbull from Matilda except that’s not appropriate for real life. Secondly, I am disgusted with Joanne’s unprofessional behaviour at the end of the lesson at 12pm. At the end of the lesson, instead of saying goodbye to the children like a normal human being and clearly instructing the children to exit the pool, she just walked off. After a few minutes, the male student teacher at the next section of the pool noticed, then instructed them to exit the pool and waved goodbye to them. This is rude, unprofessional, incompetent and disrespectful. I made an official complaint to Julie Bonser. She is Customer Service Manager and friends with Joanne. Instead of investigating properly, she looked at the CCTV and blamed the children instead of admitting that the way Joanne Brown had conducted the lesson was inappropriate, incompetent, lazy and unprofessional. She refused to apologise and refused to give me a refund bearing in mind I am a long-standing customer. I asked for someone else to investigate the matter and Julie has ignored my email. My daughters white father will now make a complaint so that the university takes this matter seriously. We will be taking this matter further. If you are a non-white person, don’t bother working here or making a complaint. I also worked at the university very briefly in 2017 and was also treated horrendously.
The university has some lovely grounds to walk through and iconic buildings. Highfields Park and the Lakeside Art Centre are open to the public. It is a nice place to visit to relax and unwind. Can't review or comment on the actual university and services provided as not used.
Visited University Park Highfields with 2 of our grandchildren. We had a great time. Adventure Golf, Football Golf, Boating on the lake, nice Car Park, Toilets and a great children play ground. Plenty of wildlife and trees.
Nice places to viste on a sunny day. Lots to do and great for family. Good walks around the lake. Play area for kids. Min Golf, boating lake. Coffee shop and amenities are good. Take a pinc.
Beautiful campus, I loved my time here. Peaceful place to walk through
I am the father of an undergraduate at Nottingham. The university is very good academically, and the research and teaching is generally good. However the academics and students are being mis-served by a management that is both incompetent and arrogant. This has been exemplified recently by their confrontational attitude to an entirely peaceful student protest, wasting large amounts of money in an completely unnecessary legal case against their own students.
My review is in regards the bus service adjacent the entrance to the university, bus service route 901 I was given this bus service to complete the last part of my journey I waited for 45 minutes and when I tried to get on the bus I was asked for a student card which I wasn't so couldn't provide I tried to ask the driver for an alternative bus to get and without any reply he just closed the doors and drove off thanks for that Google maps doesn't mention this service is for students only and not part of the public transport service, please Google maps amend your information please
I have been a student at this University, but I cannot support it at all. The quality of the education is terrible, constant lack of organisation, tutors not turning up for scheduled sessions. And above all the University's partnership with BAE systems and their profiteering in development of weapon systems which are killing civilians in Palestine. I urge you not to support this, keep your conscience clear and go elsewhere to get a better education.
