Brilliant range of local history going from the geological formation of the land up to the troubles. We only had time to look at the history but it was clear that they also have great science and art displays. Easy to navigate through and the staff are helpful and friendly. Very clean and safe environment with plenty of toilets. Situated in the very pleasant botanical gardens.
I spent 2.5 hours here, but more time would be even better. A very good museum, plus art gallery with many Irish works. Museum exhibits cover prehistoric times through to The Troubles. Plus rocks & minerals, natural history, and an especially good section about chemistry called The Elements. Easy to visit: just drop in, no booking needed, it’s free donations welcome.
Very enlightening and enjoyable experience. The game of thrones props are incredible and the staff was friendly and making sure that not too many people are entering the exhibition at once. You can easily book a ticket online but you might want to do it a little in advance. The exhibitions range from nature and animals to local history and even art.
Lovely for indoor family quality time, entry is free u should take the lift to the top floor then spiral ur way down through the whole museum. I loved the Stone Age part and the Egyptian part where they have a mummy on display. On every floor there is a kids playing area
Great experience, really love this museum, relaxed atmosphere, well organised, really widespread collection with a bit of everything and good facilities like the cafe, shop and toilets. Royal academy of arts exhibition was fantastic. Our now teenage kids and friends enjoyed it too.
There are 5 floors with different exhibitions, about absolutely everything. It’s one of the must-see spots in Belfast. It's free but please do not leave without making a donation. The experience the museum offers is worth at least £5. There's also a gift shop and a coffee shop. And also very cleaning bathrooms! AMAZING!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
A must go! The museum is incredible 5 floors and plenty to discover, learn and interact! Staff very nice and knowledgeable. Prepare to spend few hours wondering around as it is worth it. There are few areas for kids to draw and learn about history and animals. It is free and you can get the 8a from the city center. Make sure to check the return times as it might take a while to get back to the city center. Highly recommend! Definitely I'll go back!
Far better than I'd feared. The history galleries are, understandably, given prominence but I really enjoyed the art galleries. The former Lecture Theatre converted into a cinema is an excellent use of the space which has had its architectural details preserved. Too much to see on just one visit.
One of the best museums I have visited. Packed with years of history. The layout of the building is the best! Allows for easy movement from one section to the other! A must visit if you’re ever in Belfast, a city like no other in the UK!
Wow this was an amazing museum. Needs more than 1 visit, we will definitely go back. The mineral section alone was fantastic. The staff were helpful and friendly and we were able to store bags there as we looked round.
