This place us fantastic, so quiet and peaceful in a wonderful setting. Sadly the curator is retiring and it will be closed until further notice and a new curator can be found. What the curator Lesley Smith has done for this place is admirable. Lesley will be greatly missed here.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Absolutely stunning place. Went for my best friend's wedding. Glorious day for it as well. Shame to hear it won't be open to the public for much longer. But absolutely beautiful.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Great place, not massive but worth a visit. Nice little cafe on the site, a couple of scattered ruins. Parking was only £1.50 so worth the visit.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A little known castle but one of the many where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned at various times. A great history, some fabulous views though only ruins remain of the castle. There is car parking £1.50 and entry fee is £5 for adults. There is also a small cade on site Worth a visitVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Great evening with Lesley. Very entertaining as always. The History of Chocolate was a very different way of spending Valentines but we really enjoyed it. Lots of choices to try and plenty of laughs.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Have you heard of this Castle? No, neither had I, but it was one of the places where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned 4 times here. A great place with a great history presentation from the guide. Cheap entry fee and a tea room and access to the house and ruins.
Beautiful castle ruins with a lovely little cafe built into the 1800's farmhouse. Highly recommended if you're in the area and fancy something cheap and interesting to do.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Very nice place to have a walk around while also learning about the history of the castle and the grounds. We went on a Wednesday when there was a guide on site who was really friendly and knowledgeable.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
We went Steampunk Weekend and for the £46 we paid for 3 adults and 1 child under 4 it was not worth it. There is nothing there for anyone, really only a tea room, oh, and a beer tent. Plus £1.50 to park in a field with grass up to your knees. Will not be going again.
Interesting little find out in south staffordshire ,apparantly mary queen of scotss was imprisoned here at dome point . Never really of heard of this and seen a sign by chance so just visited Entrance was £4 on weekday and 1.50 parking ...worth a look ...but an hour at best is all to be spent here
