It's Saturday night, chips were good, Szechuan chicken n char Sui was fine, tad wet but all the veg had that crunch and fresh taste. Rolls were a bit cold in the middle but nothing major. I ate the lot. Haven't tried any of the new Chinese takeaways in the local area but past experiences with them have been the worst or over priced, over rated.
Never had a bad experience yet, food is always hot and tasty, family business who go above and beyond
Would rate zero if I could. Totally and utterly disgusting. Heard great things about this place over the years so gave them a try. Bought a blue munch box, all over cooked, totally dry but somehow the chips were almost raw. Total rip off and really vile. Bought salt and pepper chips, dont even bother, almost raw, no seasoning at all, putrid. Bought king prawn curry, really watery, no taste at all, rotten. Bought house special in black bean sauce, absolutely rank. Ate next to none of what I ordered and too late to report until the following day. Spoke with manager to explain my disappointment in my first time ordering, was basically told..so what, my fault for not bringing food back......lol, great customer service Will be reporting these guys to Durham County Council and the Food Standards and Hygiene Agencies as not only was the food so shockingly disgusting, the place was a total mess inside and out. If you feel like spending £40 as a once in a blue moon treat, honestly do not bother at all......avoid, avoid, avoid at all costs!!!!!!!!!
Very watery, no thickness in the curry nothing like it used to be. Curry a big disappointment and the chips. The chips used to be the thing there but not anymore they are not so good. Do not know what's going on but nothing like it used to be and pretty tasteless
First visit since 2012. It was alright, not a polar 5 or 1 as many of the opinions seem here. Char Sui chilli and garlic with chips. Chips were a touch undercooked and not great, quite a few thin slices in the portion. Sauce was very tasty and chilli bite was there. I’d go back and try the curry sauce based dishes at some point.
I love Chinese food and am quite selective. When we moved to Browney, I was desparate to find a good chinese takeaway but was fooled by the exterior that looks old. It was always crowded with people waiting to pick their order and we decided to give it a chance and no regret! It was fantastic. Reasonable portions, tasty food and very cheap.
chips were the high light if warmer main /chicken curry I would have thought better as it was 8pm evening NO TASTE watery gravy chicken was sparse odd piece of raw onion. very poor I first came to have food here 30 years ago. rubbish now.
First time here, chips were probably the best chips I've tasted in Durham. Chow mein was ok, curry was aweful looked a pale mustard colour not what you usually get, the chicken in the curry was very sparse as the container had around about a whole onion in. The chicken balls were lush. So I would come back but not for curry.
Been going here since the 70s, although the people change the food is great. Unfortunately they can't seem to sort themselves out. Shame it was always good, might try again in a couple of months see if any better
This is the best Chinese in the area by FAR........ You have to try it to understand we should never judge a book by its colour when you stand outside it’s not the best appearance shop but the food is next level. I’ve just moved from London to Durham and after searching a lot of places for good food came across here but did not want to go in because of the appearance form outside but eventually went it and the food surprised me.
