They are quite good. We were with them for one year as a trades company but we cancelled as we didn't think we were getting our money's worth. We in fact did get a little bit slower when we initially cancelled, however, as they don't track calls, emails or anything, we only realised that we were getting a decent amount of calls from our profile when we had already cancelled. It might be beneficial if they add a page which is dedicated for a review of your membership as we would have probably renewed if we had all of the necessary data there in front of us.
As a tradesman, they used to be really good; however, they have become problematic. They do not contact you about your direct debit or anything, then cancel your membership without communicating. I would seriously avoid them. You’re better off spending the money on lead generation, in my opinion. This service is all for the homeowner, with no support for the tradesman at all. I had a complaint where the customer had already paid and signed off on the job. Three months later, they went to the service to say they were not happy. I had to pay back £1400 just because they advised me to, or I would not be able to trade on their site. Shambles.
Honestly the worst thing you could do for your business is trust in trustatrader to bring you leads. It’s all about making excuses about needing to ‘up the portfolio and gallery and reviews’ to essentially spin the fact you have no leads after 7months of being with them. So disappointed in investing in them. I haven’t even heard from them in months and I’m a member still, thankfully it’s ending soon. I took a gamble and sadly they did not support a female roofer at all. I explained that it was hard enough competing in a male dominated industry and they provided f all to help and wish I had never bothered. They happily took my £1k and didn’t care about me at all…. The last email I received from them was in March and that’s when I vocalised I was struggling with leads and asked to cancel and they kept my money but terminated the contract short. But didn’t want to still try and help me despite the fact I still paid.
DSD Services. We have just had DSD Services fit our new fascia’s, soffits & guttering. I honestly can’t thank them enough. Dave Shimmon came out to see what was needed to be done and he was absolutely brilliant. Professional, warm, friendly and knowledgeable. His team turned up on time and worked so hard, literally nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a first class service from them, they took all of the old waste materials away and left everything so clean and tidy. I would highly recommend this business to anyone including my friends and family. 5 Stars
We have just had our guttering, soffit and facia boards replaced by Dave Shimmon and his team from DSD services. The tradesmen were friendly and professional and carried out the work to an excellent standard. They removed all of the waste and left the site clean and tidy. The work represented excellent value for money. I can only award a maximum of 5 stars but they are worth far more. Thank you for your hard work guys.
Silverwood Construction CambridgeLtd renewed my patio, the entire experience was very satisfactory. They established what I required, gave a competitive quote and carried out the work to a high standard. They were polite and respectful and I felt comfortable leaving them with access to the house when I was out.
Needed a roofer so looked at TrustATrader website. The first roofer kept coming up with the excuse that he couldn't get hold of the materials. When he eventually started he asked me to pay him cash even though we had agreed I would pay him by bank transfer. When I refused he got aggressive but I stood my ground and he backed off. Got half way through the job and kept coming up with excuses why he couldn't attend so I told him not to bother and I paid him for the work he had done. The second roofer off the TrustATrader website came and looked at the job and made out he was the best roofer on the planet as he had 'been doing it' for thirty years, and he would come back to me with a price. Two days later I rang him and he told me he didn't want the job. I found a roofer on the Federation of Master Builders website who came out and did a good job. I will look at the FMB website in future. There are no bad reviews of traders on the TrustATrader website as TrustATrader will not allow you to leave a poor review. I would leave minus five stars if I could.
False Advertising and Scamming People In short, BEWARE!!! "The TrustATrader Guarantee allows you to register your next arranged job for free, to be covered up to the value of £1000 in the unlikely event of there being any issue with the standard of work." A very useful website unless the trader does not do what they promised then you are screwed. They have false advertising with their TrustATrader Guarantee. If something does not go well, there will be no independent review. Lisa Francis, the Complaints Advisor that I dealt with, was very shortsighted. She only focused on a part of the chat history with the trader that would defend the incomplete job that the trader did. She did not look at the final agreement. The trader overpromised and underdelivered. He took my £1,200 and did not do what he promised. He left the back side of the fence untouched, although he said "that will be all put right" and "We will drill a wooden post on the back of the concrete one." That had never happened and Lisa did not care to hold the trader up to his promise. The trader asked for more money to finish the job he promised to do in the first place but after five postponements and one month later the job was never completed. Lisa was fine with that too because "that's between two of you". The quality of the panels was very poor and there are at least three holes in them already. For one-month old fence, that is terrible in my opinion. Lisa said about that "I was just being unlucky". The first post was not replaced with concrete one, nor with wooden one, due to being next to the building. This was never explained to me in advance. It seems like the trader was saving on work and materials. He did not replace a post of the fence he was supposed to replace. Furthermore, the builders never cleaned after themselves and left my house full of dirt, grass and gravel. They kept leaving my front door opened, which the wind kept slamming behind them at least 10 times. Overall, do not trust TrustATrader and the Guarantee! It does not exists. As Lisa said "...we feel that communication has broken down between you and we can only mediate where both parties are in agreement." I read this as if you are in agreement with the trader, there is a guarantee but if you do not then there is not. This is a bit like having seatbelt that works all the time, except for when you need it. I am extremely Disappointed and I feel scammed!!!
I used TrustATrader that's an oxymoron if ever there was one!! to source a specialist roofer to replace a tiled extension roof. The workmanship was "simply appalling" in the words of a genuine specialist roofer I had to get out to inspect the badly leaking roof. The original "specialist" roofer had passed the 15 point vetting system of TrustATrader; in which is central to their latest radio advert, which says "sit back and relax, have a cup of tea, in the sure knowledge that you have a true professional tradesperson undertaking the work you require." I paraphrase a little, but essentially it cost me £7000+ to rectify the multitude of serious faults that the "roofer" TrustATrader recommended and endorsed. TrustATrader have no interest in this situation nor are they willing to give any explanation as to why their 15 point vetting system allowed them to foist a completely rogue roofer onto me. It is plain to me that the TrustATrader scheme is not fit for purpose if it allows rogue traders to prey on a trusting but no longer in my case!! general public without any form of redress or accepting any responsibility.
I found a tradesperson on trustatrader and when I had a negative experience I was unable to leave a negative review. They allow the tradesperson a right to reply and believe whatever they say. I had to omit so much of my review there wasn’t much left of it. The tradesperson is then allowed to leave a reply riddled with lies. I left a review for Highcourt roofing in Peterborough and they replied saying I had been confrontational and they left my property for their own safety. I’m baffled. I’m a 5ft 2 female who was alone at my property dealing with a group of 4 male roofers and this so called confrontation was me asking them not to smoke on my property! It seems trustatrader is a pointless service as they just believe and protect the tradesperson and do nothing for the actual customer. Absolutely awful!
