It is a great place to workout, range of equipment. There is a dedicated area for calisthenics, which is rare for a gym, especially at this cheap cost. Staff are great too, polite and always there to help and have a nice chat which makes it feel more welcoming. Definitely recommend it.PositiveCommunication
If I'd live here I would choose not go to this gym. Reasons: dirty, changing room has a bad odor, the weights are scattered all over the place, most of the machines are not cared for and some are even defect, and last but not least, 90% of the clients don't follow the gym rules and courtesy, like putting back the weights where they belong, dropping the weights on the floor, using the machines in an aggressive way, using several machines/weights at the same time, meaning you're always behind on your workout routine, etc. Since I come from abroad, I only stay here for a couple of weeks, so for me it's worthy. Reasons: no need for joining fee, cheap, long opening hours. Some positive aspects: the staff is experienced, nice cardio plateau, location is central and the showers are decent.
Friendly staff and cheap prices are the only positives. The equipment is poorly maintained as are the showers. If you want a cheap, city centre gym then it's fine. But having used "the gym" in West town, you can find better quality for the same money.
DON’T JOIN! IT’S ALL A CASH GRAB SCAM!!! This gym lacks professionalism and quality. Though the membership is known for being pretty cheap compared to other fitness branches, the equipment, machinery and the state of the gym itself is no where close to the value of its membership price. Leaking ceiling, bad air con, damaged plates, broken machines that having been fixed for months are some honourable mentions, let’s not forget about the terrible/day in day out repeated remix music playlist ; There have been instances where the receptionists would simply drift off around the gym away from the reception to serve costumers, leaving people to wait until their return. This has been a huge problem recently as many bikes have been stolen at this gym, no surveilling the cameras, the safety in this gym is absolutely trash fun fact: the suspect has been stealing bikes from the gym for a month and couldn’t do anything about it During these hot summer times, the air conditioning is horrible and doesn’t serve use, the opposite building next to the gym reflects ridiculous amounts of sun rays making certain machines unusable the reflection is worse than direct sunlight which is dangerous. Sauna still has a 2 people rule which is simply a complete joke. If no improvements are made, this gym might as well close down completely. SCAM.
I cannot recommend this gym Positives: It's cheap 2 x good sets of dumbells upto 60kg Not too busy... Probably due to the reasons below Negatives: Equipment in terrible condition. Filthy Way to hot to work out in effectively, air-conditioning may as well not exist, lack of blinds on windows to keep the sun out or any decent ventilation. Significantly better gyms are available in Peterborough for broadly the same money with the convenience of free on-site parking, good quality equipment in great condition and most importantly don't suffer the rediculous / dangerous to work out in temperatures of this place, with owners that actually care about their patrons and the reputation of their business.
the gym is in a convenient place, there are no free parking spaces, friendly to cyclists gym not for everyone. lack of professionalism and old equipment can scare away, but it has something in itself. with the right knowledge you can practice without interruption.it will not be a waste of time and an evaluation of it yourself.I myself attended several gyms in Peterborough and I am the longest in this one.
Most of the free weights are falling apart/broken. Only 1 out of 5 Olympic bars is safe to use the others are stiff and broken. The cable machines are always broken. Most of the equipment is from the fitness first that closed down 5 years ago and is long past its shelf life was a member there which is why I recognise it. The worst part is that nobody shows up to open the gym on a regular basis. On 3/3/2020 there was over 20 members who showed up but nobody turned up to open the gym so nobody could train and had to go home. This has occurred at least 5 times in the last 4 months and any complaints sent by e-mail are never responded to. The only reason I do not give this 1 star is because the membership is cheap and the staff are friendly. Could not and do not recommend this gym unless you are on a very tight budget.
Really good gym ! loving the classes! So much to offer for a small price. Instructors are very friendly and always push you to do better, amazing atmosphere ! 5 stars !
Didn't even get to use facilities, I entered the building after buying a membership and was met with a rude reception lady that said that the gym is not responsible for any items lost I asked her if it would be possible to store my scooter behind the reception and was yet again met with a rude attitude. I don't understand how a gym can be so unaccomodating to careless to the property of its customers. Cancelled membership and won't be returning.
Since my last review, Trugym Stevenage has really improved. The changing room areas and wet areas are much better, the layout has been altered and updated and new equipment is filtering in. I spoke withe the manger Tim, who is a lovely guy and really has his sights set on making it a great place to train. Improvements to the air con are due as well as other updates at the gym. Glad to be able to post a better review.
