Relaxation perfected. Lovely inside and outside! We come for the relaxing mood, great food and drink. The river garden area is extra nice for chatting or reading, watching the world go by. Inside nice places to dine or just sit on a comfy sofa with a drink. Our room was perfect, one of the larger ones with a sitting area, outside patio and bathtub for a soak. Comfortable bed. Staff are always friendly and responsive. Dinner service was a bit slow but we find that a lot after covid with limited staff.
Beautiful location lovely staff,we sat in the garden which was nice.. food very average chips on all our burgers were cold, but vegan burger and beef burgers were tasty.. over priced I guess your paying for location..
Delicious lunch in this lovely dog and toddler friendly pub. Beautiful home cooked food in a stunning location. Friendly staff made us very welcomeService: 5/5
Atmosphere is lovely. Food however is not. Portions for the Sunday roast had a small amount of veg and it was overpriced. £23 for a small need roast is not my idea of good value. The service was okay. Won't be returning.Food: 3/5
Very tasty food roast spoiled by being largely cold. We were offered replacement food, but we did not want to wait further. We requested an adjustment to the bill from which a 10% food 'discount' was made and the service charge was removed. The roasts are expensive and even with the reductions are very overpriced especially when served cold. Unlikely to return, should have paid heed to other reviews. Noteworthy details: Cold, overpriced roast.
We visited on the Sunday 12th Feb Lovely pub with a very limited menu , and only bottled lagers none on the pumps , very disappointed nowhere near as good as it was a few years ago !
Lunch was very tasty and not expensive. Service friendly and helpful. If we lived closer we'd be regulars.Food: 5/5
Our 2nd or 3rd visit. Excellent food friendly staff. Special thanks to Sophie for looking after us. Walkability: Lovely walk with our dog along the river
Lovely impromptu meal last night at the Trout with wife and dog. Beautiful weather meant they were seating outside on a Monday website says they don't but I'd gathered this would be the case when it was 27c at 7pm! Outside seating is lovely and decor is great. Staff were friendly, attentive and quick about getting us drinks! Whitebait and Meats for a shared starter and then we both had the steaks rump and a cut I'm unfamiliar with medium rare, cooked to perfection. Chips crunchy and fluffy, peppercorn and bernaise sauce were to die for. Finally had a brilliant vanilla cheesecake and raspberry sorbet to share. Indulgent and great ambiance. Not the cheapest offering around, but well worth the price for the quality, ambiance and experience on a hot summer evening. Will be returning with excitement! Parking: Plenty of parking, can't imagine it running out
We had heard really good things about The Trout so were very excited to go. The food isn’t cheap but is normal for the area and expected for good quality food. We were a bit surprised by the sparse menu and the lack of table service outside, considering it was a very hot summers evening with very few people sat in the restaurant. We went to order at the bar for our party to then be presented with a chip and pin machine as we ordered. It doesn’t bother me that it’s a pay at the bar situation, but it’s not what you expect for a pub that charges £20+ for a main. The food arrived and was nice enough without really exciting anyone. We weren’t checked back on all evening, even for drinks. We finished off with all ordering Irish Coffee which took 30 minutes to arrive. The experience was fine, I would expect it from a run of the mill Whetherspoons where the food is cheap and nothing extra is expected. But this is an establishment that claims to be smart with high prices and a great location. I find it difficult to recommend it to anyone as the service, quality and overall feel of the evening was so below bar.
