Never played golf, but I really like golf courses. they're a nice change from walking on concrete when you're in a town, with great scenery and a good few shortcuts if you're trying to get about quicker than following Google maps, just watch out you don't get hit by any golf balls!
Give the Darley course a miss. Shocking condition. £28 for a round, would have still been overpriced at £8 a round. Nice clubhouse with good food and friendly staff. Play Lochgreen Course to avoid disappointment.
Very nice course. But disappointed by some players accused us of slow play. Felt it necessary to call club house. 4 ball 12 holes in 2 hours hardly slow play. Also allowed 3 ball and 1 ball to play through at 12th. Even though not needed. So think will look to book elsewhere next time.
Booked as last game of a 3 day trip from England. Via Golfbreaks and all other aspects of trip were brilliant. Troon Darley was a skocker!! Where to start? Were told that we had to play off the red junior/ladies tees. Hmm. First hole ok but thereafter....fairways full of holes, each hole had at least 5 dog walkers on it, and worst of all, there was litter everywhere. Awful! In fairness, the greens were quite nice. After the first hole, nothing like the rest of the course, you have a long walk across road and underpass to the 2nd tee. See pic attached. We walked off after 5 holes. FIVE!! Grim. Do not play it.
We had a bad start to our night away and morning with golf clubs being either too expensive or can't play too an afternoon of people going out their way to insure you have a great time and able to play golf.. Staff information and assistance was outstanding also the cafe was good food and good price.. We will return
