Beautiful little seaside town beside the water..a day out to us glaswegians..many memories of being a wain and coming here ...visited again last xmas 2017....Great place at xmas too..seeing all the xmas lights along the waterfront...beautiful

Troon looks like a nice place. Did not had the chance to look around the town centren. Walking from train station to Dundonald castle, then back to the train station.
Station is great, they have 2 platforms. The only thing missing which i didnt find not sure if its actually not there is any restroom or washroom and baby changing room, I went to both the platform but didnt find.nThey have parking as well in the station.nBeach is like 5-7 minutes walk from station.nDistance from glasgow is around 30-40 minutes by train, which you can get from Glasgow central station.nTrains are so frequent.nAll the train going to Ayr will pass from here.
Lovely warm, clean & comfortable waiting room- library shelves full of great books to take and swap. Very friendly station staff. Only concern is there is a HUGE gap between platform and train! Thankfully there is always a passenger around to ask to help us with our bags as this is so scary! Few years ago, one friend actually slipped between train and platform - fortunately she was rescued but it was traumatising for all on the platform! And took my friend a long time to recover!
