First time traveling from Troon on a trip to the Isle of Arran during which the ferry service was moved from Ardrossan because of poor weather. I walked to the terminal building as a foot passenger which took 10 minutes from the port entrance. However there were buses connecting the ferry terminal to the car park, Troon railway station, and Ardrossan. The terminal building was small but comfortable enough and boarding the vessel couldn't be any simpler apart from having to board from the car deck. However it ain't perfect because Troon harbour doesn't have its own train station so foot passengers had to travel on a bus to reach Troon railway station. Not like at Ardrossan where they have their own train connecting the port to the centre of Glasgow. Also for whatever reason we boarded the vessel via the car deck instead of using a passenger gangway, like the one used at Ardrossan. Finally if you travelled to Troon by car but wanted to travel as a foot passenger. It's at least a 5 minute walk to the terminal building or having to wait for a bus to take you to the ferry, which would probably take longer than just walking depending on when you arrived at the port. Apart from that, I heard a good experience travelling via Troon so I'll give the port a 8 out of 10, It ain't perfect but it's pretty good.nnEdit: There is now a gangway for MV Isle of Arran for when she diverts from Ardrossan. However still no gangway for MV Alfred as her design does not allow for the use of gangway.
Fast, friendly and easy to board despite the cancellation from Ardrossan BUT Calmac did all the changes and despite a days delay, all good
Turning up in a camper after my ferry was redirected from Ardrossan, I was thrilled to find a perfect place you could pay to stay right next to terminal. Needs a building for foot passengers to shelter
My sister and I enjoyed trip to arran on Saturday 13th July on ferry .On return to harbour City link bus was not there to meet us not sure if bus early or ferry late .A person very kindly took us to train station along with two other people .We were too late for that train but got next one .Please thank the boys who helped us who all worked at harbour a credit to the company
Very friendly, helpful people working there. Guy I dealt with early in the morning working at ticket counter was great. It was a little stressful getting to the terminal but once there everything went smoothly. Great ferry too, the price is more than fair.
