Beautiful church where the bones of William Shakespeare lie. To see the grave, it is £4 Adult and £1 child April 2023 prices Staff are very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Able to look around the church at your own pace.
Gorgeous church. Entry here is free. They have stained glass windows that are absolutely gorgeous and a beautiful cemetery outdoors. It houses the graves of William Shakespeare, his wife Anne Hathaway and 3 more relatives
William Shakespeare is buried here, along with several relatives. The walk to the Church is pleasant, as its located near a park and path to the Church is tree lined. The inside of the church is beautiful. The nearby Garden Of Remembrance nearby is also worth a visit.
An extremely beautiful church it is beautiful to look around it and how they had the grave of Shakespeare and his family marked off was very well fitting. It is quite calming church to go to and really makes you feel like your have taken a step back in time with history. The only downside was I felt there was to much pressure on donating to be inside the church and to see Shakespeares grave with a man with a card machine waiting at the entrances to the area where his grave was. Overall I would say 4 stars as it is very in keeping with the times and it is beautiful church to go. Would love to go back here and see a service being done.
This is a must see when in the area. The beautiful church in a gorgeous setting with such rich history. The volunteers were absolutely amazing! Super knowledgeable and extremely friendly! I highly recommend this place to check out!!
A beautiful old church full of history and stories. We were free to wander around and look at everything. Names such as Beckett are also associated with this church. Staff shared interesting information. The spot where Shakespear is buried retains a simple but important place in the church. Free to visit but they do ask for a donation which you will want to give.
Very friendly staff and interesting building. The resting place of Shakespeare, his wife and children. The photo is a sanctuary knocker. So if someone perhaps fleeing a potential lynching needed help. As long as they could track the knocker, they would be safe. Very good experience. Thank you.
A place of worship going back to The Reformation and earlier than that. So much history as well as a relevant and inspiring Christian Church. Loved our visit here and exploring Stratford upon Avon.
The burial place of one of the greatest ever playwright, quiet and solemn. It's about 15 minutes from the Shakespeare's birthplace on foot. Between the birth and resting places, why not visit the RSC Theatre to watch a play and enjoy a hot drink by River Avon.
Stunning looking church from the inside and outside. Very well kept and preserved. Free to enter, donations welcome. The staff here are very welcoming and informative. The grave of William Shakespeare is here at the end of the church inside.
