Fantastic setting, could imagine it to have great character at Halloween or Christmas. Offered the main menu and set menu, both different dishes. Starters were large portions and mains were relatively small portions so we had no room for dessert. Vegan starter was sent out with cheese on but once replaced was superb. Great setting, good food but service was quite slow, there didn't seem to be anyone in charge or leading and the staff appeared to be quite inexperienced. If your are from out of town and visiting Alnwick it is worth a visit but wouldn't be a repeat visit.
Amazing place where everything is made of wood. If you would like to have a meal inside the restaurant, you need to make a reservation. But if your trip was spontaneous as mine, you can still have some meal in a “bar” that is outside the restaurant. The menu in the bar is quite short, however you can still find smth for yourself. The food tastes nice, the place is clean, the staff is attentive and helpful. Pricing is reasonable. There is a parking, for the whole park, there would be no issues. Moreover, this place is not that far from the bus station.
Wow! What can I say about this place? Really tasty, great quality food in the most magical of twinkly settings. Feels like you've wandered into an illustration in a fairy tale. It really is a lovely experience, perfect for a romantic dinner where you want to impress your other half!
Probably the best vegetable Wellington I've ever had, it was sublime! The setting was obviously magical too. Just a pity I was still hungry, side of chips wouldn't have gone amiss but I guess you don't go to restaurants like these and expect a plate full.
We've been here a number of times over the years, when we've been visiting the gardens or castle. Whilst the food was lovely today the service was massively variable. It took about 30 minutes to be asked what drinks we'd like, although once ordered they arrived quickly. Unfortunately one of the glasses was dirty and when we asked for a clean glass there was no apology, which seemed odd. We asked for some ketchup and a jug of water once our food arrived. In the end we had to flag someone down to get them, by which time we'd pretty much finished our food. There seemed to be about 4 people serving our table some were good and some not so good. This all took place mid afternoon and the restaurant was less than half full, so not massively busy. Hopefully the service will improve. No one was rude it just didn't seem very organised which is a shame as it's a lovely environment and lovely food.
Lovely spot. Great food at reasonable prices. 2 courses for £18. A bellini £5.99. Well cooked and presented food. A treat. In a magical setting.
Beautiful setting and atmosphere. The starter nettle cheese souffle was fantastic. Vegetarian options for the main course were lacking in flavour and substance- definitely not worth the price. Desserts were nice enough. Service was slow but friendly. Overall, great setting but vegetarian options need some work.
Such a unique place. We had the Sunday lunch with cocktails. Ended up having 3 courses. We had the Muscles and the blackpudding scotch egg starter which were lovely. The lunch was beef and lamb, very tasty only let down by roast potatoes which were clearly warmed up and possibly left over from previous day. We had trifle and marmalade brioche which again were lovely. Overall food and service was very good.
Beautiful restaurant with an amazing setting and the building is just stunning. We had the lunch menu and it was fantastic, nettle cheese soufflé and black pudding scotch egg for starters followed by the mussles. Highly recommend this place, definitely worth a try.
What a shame. The food tasted amazing however one vegan option wasn't available on the day, leaving us with just 1 other item that we had to have as a vegan. The service was terribly slow, and I could hear people saying the same thing all around. The air was chilly too - there's a box of blankets as you go in by the fire if you need one. Staff were polite and friendly, there just seemed to be an issue that day not sure what it's like on other days. The treehouse itself is beautifully decorated with fairy lights inside. Music was quite like typical pub music, and I'd say it would be better suited to something more relevant to the setting and theme. Would highly recommend booking in advance of visiting.
