Our visit was OK today. I had the macaroni bites to start, which were good.. my mum had the soup of the day, was told it was carrot and coriander, but it turned out to be tomato and it was cold/luke warm, but she was hungry, so didn't want to make a fuss. Our mains were OK, I had the mixed grill and was asked how I wanted my steak, to which I asked for rare.. it wasn't rare, but it seemed to be getting busier, so again didnt say anything. We were asked if we wanted sauces with our main meals, which we did.. but this got forgotten, so we had to go and remind them. There didn't seem to be many staff working. Have had better visits here.. I can't say we will be rushing back

It was Good Friday and my wife woke up saying she fancied a full English breakfast. I had heard of the Treacle Mine doing good food but had never been. My step-daughter suggested we booked and I'm glad we did as it was very busy. There was a wait for a parking space outside and you need to validate your car once in the restaurant. You are given 3 hours and can always request longer if needed. We ended up only needing about an hour as service was so prompt. We walked in and were immediately shown our table, despite being early. Once at our table we could help ourselves to the continental selection, which was vast. Alpro soya milk was available, so I had cereal and toast. My wife had fresh fruit and my 2-year-old enjoyed some grapes. The vegan cooked breakfast includes This Isn't Bacon, sausages, beans, hash browns, mushrooms and tomatoes which were missed from ours. All were well cooked and hot. I put my hash browns, sausages and bacon into a sourdough muffin - it was delicious! We had all of this, as well as unlimited fruit juices, tea and coffee for £9.99 each and children eat free. You just pay at the bar afterwards when you're ready. It was such good value, especially as we could have had more but we're so full that we didn't need any lunch. Things that could be improved are the car parking. I was unsure if we could park at the hotel. Also, we didn't spot any baby changing facilities - but again, this might have been missed on our part. We ended up changing our son on the floor.
Charming restaurant with a very homely feel. Very spacious, well presented and clearly well managed. The menu had great options for all. The food was beautifully cooked with generous portions. The staff most obliging, pleasant and efficient. An outside seating area which was charming. I'll be returning!
Good food, well priced but the service was poor. Shouldn't take over 2 1/2 hours for a 2 course meal, had to help ourselves to cutlery as wrong / no items sent out ice cream spoon for an apple crumble, no steak knife, etc. and it's not rocket science to suggest teas and coffees should come after the dessert, not before it. A real shame as on previous visits I'd have given it 4 or 5 stars, but it's gone downhill in the intervening years. Kid-friendliness: Reasonable kids menu, high chairs available.
Nicely decorated pub with friendly staff. Food is nicely priced with roast dinner at £9.49. Service was a bit slow but we weren't in a rush. Good choices on menu with a vegan roast option. Overall value for money and would go again Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian choices Parking: 3 hours free parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Fully wheelchair accessible. Ramp from car park to front door.
First time visit, genuine friendly welcome, following covid guidelines and procedures. Fantastic service, clean well presented pub restaurant, food cooked to order. Our breakfast arrived together and hot, good quality products used. Look forward to our next visit. 4th July 2021 Visited today 2nd time Sunday lunch, fantastic meal, cooked beautifully, very friendly atmosphere and professional service. Noticed a couple of other people with accessibility needs which didn't phase anyone, plenty of room for all. The lady who serviced me was brilliant and the chap who checked my reservation for tomorrow Kane was spot on too. Look out chef, we'll see you at 10 !
I gave this place 5 stars last week. Now 2 stars. One for nice staff, one for nice restaraunt. But, we are here for the food. Wrong food arrived first of all. When our food eventually arrived, cold plates, warmish food. I was with a guest, so didn't make a fuss. A bit embarrassing too. A real shame this place is so inconsistent. One to avoid.

We have visited the Treacle Mine a few times over the past 4 or so years, when we are on holiday in the area. It is situated just off the roundabout to A27, A22 and Polegate Bypass so is easily accessible by car. There is a carpark on site but when they are busy it can be hard to get a parking spot. The service they provide is always helpful and friendly. When we eat there we tend to be a party of 7 children and adults and there is always a good variety of food on offer to cover all tastes, even the most pickiest eater I have. The food is cosistantly tasty and liked by all in our party so is most definitely a thumbs up from us and we will continue to visit when we are next in the area.
