Best shower iv ever had in a hotel!nRoom was clean and comfortable, breakfast was okay. Beautiful view over the park.nThe light on the smoke detector flashes fairly brightly every 5 seconds, won't be an issue for most but I was able to see it with my eyes closed and it affected my sleep a little.nnCar park is very small 25 spaced for 152 rooms but the cathedral car park is just over the road and a reasonable price.
We booked a Super Room for a family trip me, the wife and two kids aged 6 and 11 and have to say there was absolutely nothing Super about it at all. Actually, I could make it work. The room itself was Super small - putting 2 additional beds was laughable as the room was barely large enough for the one double. The facilities were Super basic. Apparently, according to the front desk staff, the additional features of this room included a hair dryer - yes, really, apparently hair dryers are an upgrade - an iron and ironing board - we couldn't comment on this as they were in the wardrobe that we couldn't access as there was a bed in the way did I mention the room was Super small? - a coffee machine which didn't stop - Super annoying - and a comfy arm chair, which may have been Super comfy but we couldn't use it because there were beds in the way!nAll in all a Super waste of money and Super dissappointing!nWe were Super quick at identifying these issues and spoke to the Super staff and the front desk who was Super helpful but ultimately could do nothing as the hotel was Super busy! In fact all the staff were Super friendly!nSo to summarise Super quickly, if you're thinking of booking a super room don't bother. If you have a family trip to Portsmouth - which is Super interesting - you may find more Super accomodation booking with a different well known, budget hotel. I won't say which, but I suggest your experience will be a Premier one!
I usually stay in no frills chains so know what to expect but this was well below par.n1. We arrived at 2:10pm but they had no luggage storage until our 3pm check-in, so we had to kill time outside with our cases. We came back at 2:55pm but could not check in until precisely 3pm, making a huge queue in reception for no good reason.n2. Breakfast was not until 8am - not ideal for people with an early start.n3. There was no hairdryer in my room and no phone to call down for one, so I had to go to the lobby at 7am with wet hair to ask for one.n4. The shampoo/soap dispenser in the shower did not work.n5. The shower curtain did not fit well, causing water to pool on the bathroom floor. The bathroom bin was rusty from previous guests having this problem.n6. No bag storage the next day meant we couldn't sightsee unless we paid for bag storage elsewhere.nWill choose the Premier Inn next door in future - they actually recommended them as a bag storage facility at £5/bag!
This hotel is excellent for a Travelodge, in terms of comfort, cleanliness and lack of noise. Location wise, it is handy for visiting tourist destinations in the city and is located close to Portsmouth and Southsea Station.nnCar Parking is limited. Only very early arrivals will obtain a place. Car parking is not free but is cheap compared to rival car parks.nnBreakfast is fine, though the hostess was not very attentive to cleaning of previously occupied tables or replenishment of cutlery.nnOverall: Recommended.
The best thing about the hotel was the location, very central so good base for getting around. The rooms are nice but very basic. The company says wifi is not included and that features into the lower cost, however if you pay close to £100 for a night you would except wifi to be included. Also bizzare that the hotel doesnt have the facility to hold your luggage before/after check-in/out. Service from staff was nothing special.
