I’ve left a detailed review on Tripadvisor and it received a really rude and dismissive response from the Hotel Manager and it all makes sense now. Beds were uncomfortable and caused back pains to me and my husband, pillows were also uncomfortable. Receptionist sent us to 2 rooms we did not book and on the third visit to the reception after a LONG journey, with a small baby, they gave us the correct room as per my booking. The supervisor also stated they don’t have a single king size bed in that hotel which I questioned since it’s on their building posters and on their website. Pure incompetence. The hotel and its staff will only be as good as the person leading it and so I’ve rated this review 1 star for that reason. It is evident the hotel manager is incompetent in his role and most probably a bully. His staff were much better than him for sure as they apologised for their mistakes and offered complementary breakfast to make up for it. In the response the manager questions why they even did that - it is called good customer service. He also stated I booked a family room and that’s why I received a family room - again pure incompetence and lying at this point as I have my booking in email stating I booked a double, not family or disabled access, which is the second room they tried to put me in. Overall terrible experience, terrible management clearly. However, excellent location. But you get what you pay for and I won’t be making that mistake again.
We stayed here for 2 nights from 15/11/24. Parking was said to be limited, but there were several spaces available. Check-in was quick and efficient, and Manager Aaron was extremely helpful, recommending places to eat and drink. The room was clean and spacious with a great view over the park. Heating worked well and the bed was a good size with plenty of pillows. The bathroom had large towels and an efficient shower. Breakfast at £11.50 was plentiful, great quality and hot. The breakfast room was well laid out and kept spotlessly clean by Tracy and Meg who worked hard and with a smile, replenishing food and clearing tables. Both ladies went out of their way to be pleasant and helpful. We were delighted with everything. Travelodge have got it just right at this location.
We stayed in a Family Room on the 8th floor.nnIts quiet - I don't belive I have heard any other guests while we have been in our room.nnVery clean room.nnThree floor to ceiling windows only one can be opened give great views towards Portsmouth Harbour.nnBeds one king size and two single 'pull out' beds are firm but comfortable.nnOur Family Room had a small bath don't expect to be able to lie back and soak! with a shower.nnGood Central location with good transport links.nnVery good value for money and would happily stay here again!
Great hotel near the city centre, shopping, foodnd bars. Parking close by at the Cathedral car park, £6.50 for 24hrs. Breakfast was fabulous, hot cooked food, cereals, bakery items and fresh fruit salad.nEverything within walking distance
Breakfast is naff hardly much choices and also not the best for money. The coffee machine was crap only gave you quarter of a cup I reported it. Waited no one came to tell me they'd fixed it. Rooms are lovely clean tidy great views if your lucky love the fact you can mirror your phone to the TV. Toilet however is that close to the sink for bigger people wouldn't be able to cope as I only just about can manage and I'm on the big side. Location is ideal bus stops right outside to take you to the local attractions so that's brill. Over all its worth it but just cater for yourself.
