Just returned from an amazing 3 night stay here. Service was exceptional, shout-out to Chris, Brandon and Nathan who were mostly on shift during our stay. They looked after us very well and nothing was a problem. We stayed in the superior king double which was spot on. Very clean with a huge comfortable bed. Nice bathroom and hot power shower. We were bed and breakfast and went with the full English grill & the pancakes both were very nice - see photos Never had a bad meal here during our stay, tried various dishes off the menu again see photos they speak for themselves. We will definitely return here and would highly recommend to stay or just even for a meal!
Sunday lunch after a walk up Helm Crag was the perfect treat. You definitely need to book a table as it gets really busy. The fire was cheerful, the bar genuinely antique and the staff cheerful & polite. You get a big plateful of food - I really enjoyed my roast chicken. The salted caramel dessert was to die for! There was plenty of parking, too.
We only had a brief stay overnight, with no food, but the service we received was spot on. And the room was great. The only fault would be the bed was a little hard for my preference. The pub itself is situated in a central spot for any walk, with great 360° mountain views. We will be returning in the new year. Rooms: The room was very clean and tidy. Shower was great.
Enjoyed a two night stay here we just wish we had booked longer! Our room was lovely, the staff where very friendly and attentive! And the food in the bar/ restaurant was excellent! Including our breakfast which was also excellent value for money ! Highly recommend. Rooms: Gorgeous room! Food & drinks: Fantastic food !
Totally blown away by this beautiful 18 century boutique hotel. Everything is excellent..food and menu to die for, the professional and friendly staff are a. Credit to the whole operation.. The bedrooms are individually decorated to a luxurious standard. Highly recommended to other travelers. Can't wait to return in the summer weather.
We did not stay here as we were renting a cottage nearby but we did eat in the restaurant for 3 nights. EXCELLENT food was scrumptious plenty of choice cooked and presented very well. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the interior of the pub was spacious yet cosy and warm. Highly recommended for a visitService: 5/5
The staff went beyond to accommodate us and were very warming. It's located among a spectacular panorma view of the valley its part of, and it's literally on the highway, so it's pretty accessible. We spent Christmas holidays here and had a fabulous time. Big thank you to all the staff!Rooms: 5/5
Possibly the worse Sunday lunch I’ve ever been served…..beef was thin, dry, tough and ultimately given to my dog. The soggy lump purporting to be a Yorkshire pudding was inedible, even the dog turned his nose up. Vegetables were crisp which would have been ok if they weren’t cold. Not great I’m afraid though the soup was nice and the staff were friendly.
Best Soup In The Lakes Very welcoming as soon as walk in from the pleasant staff and two log log fires burning The soup of the day ‘potato and leek’ was just what I needed after a walk up in the fells. I totally recommend it. 5 stars all the way.
The food was great. Very friendly staff, drinks superb. It's not the cheapest, but it's definitely worth the money. If you have a chance to pop in for food on the fly, they are great and I sincerely recommend this place. Nearby activities: It's near Grasmere village, so you have access to shops and tea rooms bistros etc. It's a great idea to fill up here and walk to Rydal, Rydal water and the caves, waterfall are perfect to see! Safety: Not sure what it means by safety? But they keep the floors clean, dry and the toilets are cleaned regularly. Walkability: It's on the main road but if your stuck to get food and your in Grasmere just walk up, it's not far and you burn calories off to make sure you can eat what you want lol. Food & drinks: The food and drinks, though not the cheapest around the area, definitely worth it. Don't forget to check the specials out. Noteworthy details: It's smaller than you think when you walk in, but in a good way, big building, cosy feels.. on a big table, or romantic bay seat. Lovely!
