GPs and nurses are fantastic. Shame I can’t say the same for most of the receptionists and the complacent practice manager. More training is absolutely needed. Respect also works both ways. You guys will be the demise of this practice. Good luck making a genuine concerning complaint as they will write to you giving you a warning to cover themselves. Shocking.
If I could give 0 stars I would based purely on the arrogance and intolerable attitude of certain reception staff. The GP’s and nurses themselves are great if you ever get past the receptionists. While I understand services are under pressure, the callous and damn right rude manner from certain individuals I have had the displeasure of dealing with is entirely unnecessary. The surgery have a prerecorded message warning patients to treat staff with respect, yet enable the reception staff to speak with none to their patients. Respect works both ways and the rude members of the reception staff seriously need to rethink their approach towards patients.nnWith genuine reason to request an appointment following a GP letter sent it has been impossible to arrange one. It took for a request to speak with the practice manager, who was polite and well mannered to finally arrange this.nnWhen you call you either cannot get through as lines are busy or when you do all appointments are gone to try again the following day. So in an attempt to get an appointment you call 5 mins early to ensure a place in a call que. Should you happen to get through a few minutes too early, you are abruptly told to call back as it’s not exactly 08:30am, to be told that appointments are not released until then. When you do call back you’ve no chance of getting through or when you do all appointments have gone. So how can this system work. They advise there is an online booking system which when you login there are no appointments for the next 12 months??nnThe policy for appointments is frankly appalling and unfit for purpose, not everyone is able to call at the specified times set due to childcare and work commitments. It has been nearly a week of me and my partner trying to arrange an appointment to review my child's medication and we cannot even do this.nnIf you do get through you are most often told to wait for a call before being asked to attend at the CWIC service held in the Musselburgh Primary Care Centre to see an advanced nurse practitioner.nnWhen registered to a specific surgery I expect to have an appointment at that surgery not have to travel miles down the bypass when unwell.nnMy faith in the running of this practice has been lost, the reception staff do not seem to care about the safety or wellbeing of their patients. Things really must change before it’s too late for someone and their family. The local MP will be advised of these issues but I remain doubtful that much will change.
Have always found the surgery to be helpful and friendly and kind to me.nnThe reception staff are good with me, have patience and sort and organise my healthnAll the GP's look after me and have been kind and helpful in which I'm very grateful especially Dr.Muir but sadly Dr.Muir is sadly leaving. A huge loss to a lot of patients.nnIt's tough for people to get appointment's but there are a lot more houses being built and doctors leaving the NHS which means lot more people in the area but that's not the surgeries fault and time's are different and changed a lot since Covid. This is just my opinion and people are entitled to feel the way they do but all the team have looked after me for year's and for that I will always be so appreciative to you all.nnGrateful always to Dr.Reeks and Dr.Smail.nnThank you anyway for your help.
Can't fault this surgery, the staff are amazing. I'm extremely grateful for the support they've provided me and my family over the years. Fair play, it can be a bit of a nightmare getting through on the phone when busy, but it's not the surgery's fault - speak with your local MP about it if it's an issue, little point grumbling at reception staff. Thanks TMP, keep up the good work!
Admittedly it's not the easiest process for actually getting an appointment even after registering for online services but I can't fault the care I received recently from the surgery. Peter nurse recently took bandages and stitches out for me and was so careful and caring, he put me completely at ease. I also had to call to request a same day prescription for medication and it was dealt with very efficiently by one of the doctors.
