There's a reason this place has won awards, because it's a beltin chippy. The homemade pies are delicious and the guy running the place is a really nice chap. Went today for the first time and had the cheese and onion pie with chips mushy peas and gravy. One of the best pie lunches I've had.
Here’s the deal…This chippy is not what you are looking for because it is THAT GOOD. Take everything you have even known on what a real chippy is supposed to be…and take that and rethink it again. And then you hen you are done trying other chippys that are named as “the best chippy in Manchester”, then throw all that away and think about it again. This establishment is that good…better than you are expecting. Period. The cod is spiritual. The crispness is unworldly. The chips are like something out of a 1960’s Michael Caine movie…classic chips with leather driving gloves wrapped around each spud. And when you are done contemplating about the universe make your way to the Town Fryer and ask Richard the owner if you are in a dream. He may tell you that you are in a dream and maybe not because he is a wizard running a very classic chippy and how these kind of establishments can bring you back to the 60’s that made the UK great. Well worth a drive to see this place and relish in a spiritual moment that defines the best of the best.
Great customer service. The chips were perfectly cooked salted and a perfect amount of vinegar. Would definitely recommend going here as it’s very cheap. 2.50 for a portion of chips and 3.50 for a large portion of chips. Very cheap and easily the best chippy I have had for years
We had heard this was award winning. We ordered ours and the man serving us said we could eat it at the pub across the road if we bought a drink and they would give us a shout once it was ready. Great food a nice pint and overall good experience.
The best chippy I've had In a long time! The homemade cheese and onion pie was amazing and the chips were great. Even my very picky 10-year-old loved it.
