Excellent experience yesterday when we took the Historical Winchester walking tour - the guide was very knowledgeable, personable and engaging, which made for a very successful and interesting tour. Highly recommended.
An excellent facility centrally located with treasure of information and very helpful staffs. Together with the reading material and maps there are other local souvenirs on sale in the shop. The place is with very neat and clean look and very inviting indeed.
I highly recommend the walking tour of Winchester. Our tour was lead by a very knowledgable lady. It lasted about two hours and finished in the great Hall.
Good to visit when staying long/short in Winchester. Located in beautiful building.
Very welcoming and friendly staff. Went on a walking tour of the lower part of town with Diane and it was an absolute wonder. Not only did she explain the greatest hits of the history of Winchester in 90 minutes!! omg!, she was also very nice and lovely with the group, and an excellent guide. Definitely worth your time and money if you want to learn about this lovely city.
A great place to fibd out what is what in Winchester. I highly recommend visiting 1 Independent Street which is in the TIC and doing the #IndieWinchTrail.
I strongly recommend calling in here before exploring Winchester. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and I found a lot of useful free info and OS maps as well as a free tear-off map of the city. There's a wide selection of gifts/souvenirs that include pictures of Winchester and more unusual items such as goat's milk soap, silver clay jewellery and local glazed pottery as well as postcards and some interesting books. Well located in the magnificent Guildhall close to the King Alfred Statue.
Took the Upper Winchester tour on a very cold, damp day which made walking outside for 90 minutes a bit unpleasant so I’d recommend that if you have a choice, go when it’s nicer weather. The tour guide was informative, funny and easy to understand. The Great Hall was very cold and a bit underwhelming but we enjoyed the rest of the tour. The Tourist Information store itself is filled with interesting items including local gin, books on the Royals, walking trails for dogs, and maps. It is inside the Guildhall which is a beautiful building and worth a visit. The staff is helpful but not pushy.
Absolutely worth a visit. A fantastic selection of free guides and maps, as well as some more detailed guides to purchase - and some great souveneirs. Sue was extremely helpful with recommendations for things to do, restaurants, bars & pubs, walks, etc. Fantastic recommendations too, we tried every one and found them all to be superb.
Well worth booking a walking tour. A very enjoyable morning being guided round the upper city.
