Great fish and chips, and ice creams. I Recomend the ice cream, fish, chicken burger and chicken bits. The beefburger wasn't as good though. Lots of choice and food portions for a reasonable price. Beer and cider on draught as well is a a nice suprise.Food: 5/5
The Boathouse Takeaway is right beside the sea wall, so it's perfect for getting an ice-cream or fish and chips. The fish and chips were some of the very best we have had, truly excellent. Better yet, they were served in paper containers.
It has become part of our South Hams family holiday ritual to come here for fish and chips either on the first or last night. These guys never fail to deliver and we are so glad they managed to survive the COVID pandemic. The fish and chips from here never disappoints, and the staff are always cheerful and helpful. Keep up the good work!Food: 5/5
New breakfast menu is amazing ! Great fresh food, beautiful presentation and happy environment. Will be returning here often.
The food is nice but you definitely pay a bit of a premium for the beautiful waterfront location.
40 minutes waiting time, we been forgotten. But no one even apologise . The answer was we made a mistake, and so you need to wait another 10 minutes. For the price of the good take away restaurant you get cheap service. Then instead beef burger it was a bean burger. One more mistake, my boy has this and I don't want to go and see the staff again for one more complaint. So we didn't get what we paid for. Instead of lemon is vinegar. Not recommended, you will have a meal upset.
Back in the South Hams again after wayyy too long a break. Our plans changed a bit and with some time to relax on the pebble beach at Slapton Ley/Torcross we decided to eat at the Boathouse as my mate doesn’t like to overthink things and stray from his comfort zone. I had Cod and Chips my mate had a GF fishcake and his mate had sausage and chips. Just saw a review saying the fish was poor quality and the chips were frozen. Don’t be afraid. Firstly the chips were frozen as they don’t have a range or a rumbler to do Chippy chips. And it’s a cafe, not a chippy. However any initial disappointment was allayed by the fact that 1/there were loads of chips and 2/they were fried to perfection - not a dud chip in the tray. I seasoned them with Steers seasoned chip salt. Yum. Now onto the fish - it was massive, thick and fresh. Perfectly fried too. Some of the best cod I’ve had recently. As good as the Pisces Fish Bar the benchmark for delicious fresh cod. The batter was just a bit greasy but was nice and thin and stayed crisp till the end. Bob raved about his fishcake so i guess it was good and also praised the chips. We were very well fed and didn’t feel heavy after the meal. Always a good sign. It wasn’t terribly cheap. But on balance it’s a great meal to sit on the beach and eat. The pub next door does food but is a bit more expensive. Would I return? Yes for sure. Support your local food joints.
Stopped here for breakfast. Nice to have something other than a full English. Eggs Florentine were good. Breakfast bap tasty. Lovely views. Dog friendly inside.
Delicious fish & chips, ice cream and very nice coffee. Staff very polite and friendly! Highly recommend !Recommended dishesFish and Chips
On a cold wet day we found a warm welcome. Excellent food, good value for money. Would recommend the place to anyone wanting simple hot food.
