Food was great and service to bring food was pretty good. However we had a fair wait in between eating our mains and having tables cleared which when you have kids isn't the greatest. Had to ask a couple of times for someone to bring us menus etc. Also about half the dessert menu wasn't available which was disappointing. The food was pretty decent and about average price wise.
The meal was quite good and it was hot macaroni did not agree with my partner and ended up with a very upset stomach did not notice the optional service charge they had added to my bill
If it was possible to leave no stars for our experience at Tony Mac's in Dunfermline then I would have. We booked the restaurant for a birthday meal and had made the reservation earlier that week, it would have been better if they had called and cancelled the reservation rather than allow our visit to go ahead. As soon as we arrived we handed over a birthday cake to a member of staff to bring out later, he seemed annoyed at this even though we had asked about it on the phone and been assured it was ok. It took half an hour before our drinks order was taken, this was only done after we had to ask a server ourselves. When we asked if we could order food at the same time we were told no and that someone would be over to take our food order soon. We got our drinks and 10 minutes later our food order was taken, the server then returned to say there were no pizza available so half our order was changed. This was disappointing but we accepted this, wanting to enjoy our night. In the time it took for our food to come an hour had passed since we ordered, tables around us were dropping like flies, the near empty restaurant was turning people away the lucky ones and tables around us who had ordered were refusing to pay bills due to the poor food or leaving as no food had arrived. Eventually our food arrived, we were hopeful but all of our pasta dishes were bland, the risotto was inedible and tasted like plain rice, completely solid and oddly very white. All other pasta tasted as though it had been microwaved and honestly you would have been better cooking at home! I have attached a photo of macaroni, tony macaroni's signature dish which wasn't even macaroni and was bland, watery and the pasta overcooked. Whilst we picked at our food, staff were arguing, tables continued to leave and the kitchen looked in complete chaos, the atmosphere was tense and not helped by the incredibly loud club music that was playing which meant we had to shout to be heard by each other. We decided rather than make ourselves ill to take our cake and leave, we did not pay the bill and the server was very understanding. I honestly felt awful for them. I asked what was going on and one server said they had been crying the other had tears in their eyes. This place honestly would be better closing than running like this, its horrible for customers who are paying for a good night out and even worse for the poor staff who serve terrible, late, cold food and have to constantly explain half the menu isn't available. This review is very long but if it is read by Tony Macaroni head office, the conditions under which this restaurant is operating is truly appalling, either stop taking bookings or cook and serve the food as it should be. This used to be a lovely place but we truly felt like we were in a episode of kitchen nightmares.
As we hadn't eaten here in a while we decided to try it again. Upon arrival though the place did look shut due to the darkened windows, weeds around the building, uncut grass and rusty handles on the door. The carpark was almost empty and as there is a Starbucks sharing the carpark most of the cars were up at that end enforcing the idea that Tonys was shut. However someone did exit the building so it did turn out to be open. We were greeted inside the door and taken to a table. We placed our orders and waited on our food and drinks. The general appearance of the place is well set out with plenty of tables without feeling crowded. The area we were sitting in was clean and tidy with the servers cleaning up immediately after the diners had left, well done these guys, there is nothing worse than dining in amongst dirty dishes. The food and drink came out soon after, the portions were large so if you are a small eater you can ask for a half portion. The food that was served to us was really nice, although one small niggle was the herbs on our dish included the stalks which were tough and inedible. The server's were polite, prompt and well presented. The toilets were clean and tidy. The doors into the Gents was very stiff as was the door to the cubicle so beware you don't walk into them as they stick.
Good service Not too expensive, only difference between presto and a la carte is the price and some more options on the a la carte menu Could've done with the cheese on the penne arriabiata Tony's macaroni cheese was more mac and cheese and less four cheese sauce Mozzarella sticks weren't too bad Asked for jalapeños on the pizza and they added peppers extras cost £1.50 each Good parking options outside
Popped into this place for a Saturday lunch with friends. We were able to be seated immediately which was great. Nice place, food was good, even though they didn't have the anchovies for my pizza. The children's menu is on the colouring sheets and isn't very big, but does the job. Prices seemed fair and servings a good size - children's pizza was huge. Would happily visit again.
Update 6 Sept: Gabriella contacted us and sorted it our. Much appreciated. Good to see a company that is responsive to feedback. Nice staff but quality not up to usual TM standards...precooked meatballs not properly heated
We were very close to leaving as the restaurant was visibly understaffed and the staff who were there seemed stressed and upset. Waiting staff were arguing with kitchen staff and the atmosphere was terrible. It took about 35 minutes for someone to take our food order and in that time if we could have gotten a reservation somewhere else then we would have. The food did arrive quickly once ordered and it was fine but I really wish we didn't bother and we won't be back. This place isn't staffed to run properly and they really need proper management in place as it isn't fair on the staff or customer. I would recommend avoiding until they are properly staffed.
Focaccia is not focaccia, I don’t know what to eat , I didn’t pay only for the edge of focaccia
Have been once before and the service and food were good but the restaurant was really quiet. This time the drink and food orders were taken really quickly. The starter was delicious but I had barely finished my last bite of my starter and the plates were away and within probably a minute the mains were on our table. Barely had time to get a drink after finishing the starter. I ordered the meatballs and I have to say it was barely edible. The meatballs were overcooked, hard and very dry. Had one and had to leave the rest. The pasta and sauce was very watery. Felt like they were trying to get us in and out as quickly as possible. Won't be returning in a hurry!
