I was part of a group of about twenty people invited to a carvery lunch here today. The service was excellent as was the food. We were all seated together up a flight of steps from the ground floor of the restaurant. Staff were friendly and efficient. A very pleasant lunch in fine surroundings.
Amazing service from Leanne, so friendly and bubbly and caring despite being super busy. The food was lovely as usual although the cauliflower cheese was bit cold - our server Leanne offered to get us a fresh lot as soon as we mentioned it. We've eaten here loads of times and never had any complaints before. Everything was sorted straight away and they adjusted the temperature at the carvery to make sure no-one else had this problem. Overall we had a lovely meal with great service.
The waitress and waiter were lovely and gave us a warm welcome. We were directed to a large table positioned in a bay window and the sun was quite blinding. Another table wasn't offered probably because we were a party of 12 people and we were just told the sun would move in 15 mins or so. Luckily we were able to place a babies blanket across the window for some relief. I had a regular carvery which was warm and quickly served. However the portion of meat I was given was very small. Smaller than the children's! I also found all of the veg tasted very bland. Even the gravy was lacking flavour. We also ordered a portion of chicken nuggets for a toddler and was shocked that a tiny plate of chicken nuggets cost £5.99. No chips or veg on the plate. In all it was pleasant and I would go again but not sure I would go for the carvery. Kid-friendliness: It's a really lovely place to go with children as they have lots of outdoor space for them to run around and it's beautiful sitting in the sun with a drink. The kids also really enjoyed their build your own ice-cream and the refillable drinks. Parking: There was a very large car park and good access to the building and grounds around the outside. The building is positioned at the end of a fairly long narrow-ish lane and a good distance from the main road.
Popped in for lunch today. We hadn't booked but felt sure it wouldn't be busy as it was only 12.15pm. We were wrong! Fortunately we were able to get a table. The carvery was the best I've had for a long time. Good choice of meat and vegetables which were all cooked well. The roast potatoes were brilliant. So many carveries and restaurants serve up potatoes that have hardly been roasted, but these were delicious. We hadn't been to Whitewebbs carvery for a long time but will definitely be returning.
The roast turkey was tender, succulent and tasty, without a hint of dryness - possibly the best I have ever had. The gammon ham and roast beef were also beautifully cooked and delicious, likewise the roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and accompanying range of vegetables. The most enjoyable carvery meal I can recall, and very good value for money. Very glad we came there to dine, we will undoubtedly return. Small suggestions for improvement - we could have been asked if we wanted a starter; the opportunity to purchase a glass or bottle of wine should be offered when patrons return to their table with their well-loaded plates. We were offered drinks before the meal and dessert when our plates were cleared. Parking: Ample convenient parking with disabled facilities for entering the restaurant.
I love a roast dinner and was not disappointed with my meal at Whitewebbs carvery. The turkey and pork was really tasty, the roast potatoes were lovely and there was a good choice of vegetables. Would like to see roast lamb on the menu mid week. Have never tried lamb as it's only on the menu at weekends and I usually go to the restaurant on weekdays.
Lovely building and setting inside for Toby. Very big inside with lots of tables. I've never been a huge fan of cooked food under heat lamps so I went with low expectations however, the young lady that seated us was very nice, polite and friendly. She took our drink order and was back within a few minutes. The actual toby was really nice. There was a choice of beef, gammon, turkey or lamb. I had the really nice beef. Really good roast potatoes in a kinda beef roast mix. Plenty of vegetables on offer. The pudding which was a seasonal sponge jam sponge was nice with hot custard. Overall really impressed.
I usually come here for lunch 2 times a week. I always sit outside due to the dogs. Most time staff is quite friendly. Today I was had worst service ever, the guy who served the food is taking napkin off my hand, only give me one, and saying we will out business if I take more than one napkin for my meal. Wow I was shocking the way he is doing it, then he went to the back, talk about me to his colleagues about napkin. I saw customer take more napkin as well, I did see him taking it back. Not sure is that because I am not English, he think he can do what ever he want, bad mouth me at back which I can clear hear it. What kind business is that, few napkins can close a restaurant due to it expensive. I got reason why to take few extra napkins, as they never clean the outside table, always dirty and water after rain. As customer I clean myself I don’t really want trouble any of the waiter or waitresses to come out to clean it, as they are very busy, most time they don’t have enough staff. This is really upsetting experience I had today. I think I won’t go back there for lunch anymore, clear the napkins is more important than customer, they can keep them napkins, I will find another place to eat in the future. Good luck to the business who think napkins is too expensive to give out to the customer.
We love coming to Toby Whitewebbs as the staff are always absolutely charming, very friendly and helpful. The building is beautiful and always welcoming and cosy. The food is hearty and great for our hungry family 2 adults and 2 adult daughters on a tight budget. Nothing could be improved on really, we are very fond of the Toby.
If you're going to go to a Toby Carvery, this is most definitely the one to go to. Beautiful grounds to walk through before or after your meal. A lovely beer garden to sit in where your dog will also be welcome. In terms of food quality, I think it's definitely one of the better carverys to visit. But I'll admit there have been times that it hasn't met the usual standard. I put that down to quiet days and food just sitting in the hotplate. But honestly it's definitely worth a visit, you won't regret it.
