We had breakfast and dinner at this place over the weekend. The dinner carvery was very reasonably priced, and the food was great British comfort food. the wait staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also good, although the buffet didn't include orange juice, which would have made it a 5 star place. Perfect spot for families, groups and couples looking for great British roast dinner. Kid-friendliness: Very kid-friendly, staff were great with the kids too. Parking: Loads of parking at the front of the restaurant.
We booked this hotel not having high expectations. However we were pleasantly surprised. The lady on reception was very friendly and helpful. The room was much better than expected. There was even a coffee-pod machine. The bed was very comfortable. On the downside, the access was awkward, especially in the dark. It's tucked behind the Toby Carvery. All in all, though, a pleasant stay. Would definitely use this hotel again.
We had a party of 25 booked weeks in advance not that this made any difference even they said that they will reserve for us. When we arrived the young boy told us that unfortunately there were people in the area that was reserved for us, would not normally be a problem but the area that they gave us the 3 tables were not together or close to each other. The server was quite rude and told us to sit down they will come and serve us, 20 minutes went by nobody came. When we asked about service she said, you need to go up and order as 2 of your party already have. Various members of or party and myself use this restaurant quite regularly, not anymore. Your staff need to be retrained in customer service and the food although usually good needs to be improved.
Great carvery selection. Plenty of Veg varieties provided lots of choice. None of the veg was over cooked or sloppy. Vegan pie was nice; but limited vegan choice on the menu, although veg made up for that. Plum and apple crumble desert was exceptional. Great value for money.Food: 5/5
I wasn’t expecting much but, Toby carvery have really blown me away with their food, service and overall vibes were elite to say the least… my favourite waiting staff has to be Vikki. She was so kind and patient with us and she was never afraid to explain the small things for a first time goer… she needs a raise Parking: They layout was thought to make coming in and going out easier…. Even during traffic in the Christmas period
Food is always high quality. Macaroni goes very hard on edges unfortunately. Service is not so good. Waiting ages to be seated, table was covered with plates and glasses. Had to ask bar staff to clear table. Then had to ask again to wipe it. Girl sprayed cleaner over table when we had drinks in hand and staff should be trained to spray the cloth not the table. Bar staff took forever serving each customer then wander off while you’re stood waiting, then return asking who’s next when we were the only ones standing at bar when they walked off. Bit disappointing. In short, great food, service needs work. Parking: Not enough spaces
Vikki was a really lovely host. She was really kind and friendly. It was my first time at Toby Carvery, and the food was definitely worth the price we paid. Just wanted to thank Vikki for taking our Christmas pictures and for being such an attentive host! [7]Food: 4/5
110 Caitlin was patient when some of our party was late. Food was delicious. I think we went up at the right time just as the new food was being put out... food was lovely and hot. Toilets could do with being checked more regularly though...lack of loo roll. It was busy though. Parking: Carpark was busy but managed to find a space in the end.
From entrance to exit, staff were friendly and very attentive. Food was delicious with a good range of choices. Would be nice to have a bit of music but the atmosphere was great and my friends and I had a great time catching up here. Will definitely come again. Number 8 Kid-friendliness: I saw families inside during my visit and they seemed to be happy to. Good mix of food to keep them happy. Parking: We just showed up and put our reg number in and enjoyed our time. Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs making everywhere accessible.
We originally booked the Festive Fare, but after waiting over 40minutes for our starter melon so didn’t need cooking which didn’t come, we decided to have the Carvery. Our hostess told us that they were short staffed, but had prioritised a party of fifty. As there were only two of us I found that statement disappointing. I would definitely think again about ordering the Festive Menu, and although the food we had was fresh and delicious would probably pick another venue for a Christmas meal. Parking: Easy to park
