Had my husbands 60th birthday with family from London,Kent,Suffolk and it didn't dissapoint. Had a fantastic afternoon. The staff were very patient with us but kept an eye and service was perfect.. and the food was lovely as always. Thanks Toby carvery park place again for a memorable day
I have been eating here for years but its really gone down hill. The meat was fatty, tough and impossible to chew. The potatoes tasted re-heated. The floor in the toilets was sticky and looks like they only mop the middle. Many veg and drink items were not available. Staff were rushing people asking if they were ready for the bill. Customers were openly vaping in front of the staff that did absolutely nothing. This restaurants has always been my go to fir comfort food yet I left feeling really let down!
Jack was an exceptional host and server, he was professional, polite and welcoming. As soon as we entered he made us feel at home and like we were special. He was careful to ask us about any dietary requirements and ensured our car was registered. Christina and the ladies who took our drinks order and brought our drinks were great, bubbly and polite with big smiles. Perfect service. The restaurant was busy but the whole team were amazing. Easily the best Toby carvery experience I've ever had and I will definitely be returning.
Service was very slow, it was quiet, but it still took 25 minutes for our initial server to take our order. Getting my starter served also took an inordinately long time. Both times it felt like we had been forgotten & we had to get our severs attention rather than the service being forthcoming. My daughter wasn't told to just go up to the carvery whenever she was ready, there seemed to be a presumption that we knew how the system worked but we didn't & only worked it out from watching what other diners did. The servers need to ask diner's if they have visited before & know what to do. My daughter said the beef was very fatty & inedible. It seemed like very low quality meat. I was served butter with my starter soup despite ordering vegan food & no alternative was offered when I said I didn't eat dairy. Additionally, I didn't expect the soup to be served with a slice of basic, white sliced bread. A roll would be more appropriate. The man who works front of house deserves a special mention. He was very friendly & helpful & is a real asset to the company. Our second server was also efficient & polite Parking: Parking was easy, but we went when it was quiet Dietary restrictions: There needs to be a vegan starter added to the menu & a non pastry based vegan main
The only thing that needs improving are the chairs and tables as they were a bit tatty. However, the food and service were knock out! They managed my dietary requirements/allergy beautifully. The food was delicious and the team were friendly and efficient. 10/10 will be back again. It was my sisters first time visiting a Toby car very and she was blown away at the quality of food for the price on offer.
Had a lovely breakfast until the receptionist decided to withdraw the complimentary drink offered to my 8 yr old by the waiting staff. What a mean place, never heard of such behaviour to kids - All because they ran out of smoothies that he wanted, so they offered him a free glass of juice. Thanks to the waitress though, she was friendly & great! I've since left an answerphone message in response to their reply, but I guess they're busy. Kid-friendliness: Friendly if the kid fits I suppose. Parking: Decent facility.
This place is OK but it's decidedly average in almost every way. Staff are friendly enough and the service is OK. The food is a C minus. Turkey is dry, beef is OK, gammon was quite nice but not the best. Veggies are all OK, albeit the beef gravy was a bit congealed, so probably had to much flour, but was also dripping with fat so hadn't been skimmed properly. The veggie gravy was nice enough. For dessert, the brownie was low on cocoa and more like a sponge than a brownie. Tasted nice enough but not a brownie really. The car park is also unmade and muddy, so beware if visiting when it's been raining. All in all, an OK lunch, at a price higher than it was worth. But we were with family and had a nice experience because of the lunch company!
The food was delicious! Range of meats and they were all cooked to an excellent standard. Shout out to the chef : Excellent customer service from staff. Jollie in particular was very polite and professional when serving food and drinks and made me and my friends feel comfortable. Definitely will be coming here again
Today we celebrated our friends 90th birthday. All the Park Place staff went overboard to make the lunch a very special occasion. Our waitress Christina is delightful and extremely helpful. We had enjoyed her service just before Christmas so we knew we would be well looked after. The Chef Antony's cooking was excellent, and his rapport was highly entertaining. In all, I cannot praise all the staff more they create a thoroughly relaxing atmosphere to dine in. I want to tell you that the staff are brilliant, thank you.
Christmas Day, it was OK. Waitress seemed a little inexperienced. Food wasn’t the best. Have had better on a usual Sunday, but you would expect all the stops for Christmas Day. Roasties were dry but the meat was good. Everything you needed you had to ask for… Lovely server at the entrance though. We’ve been 4 years in a row for Christmas Day but I think it’s time for a change now
