Just had the best Christmas dinner take out for the family. Starters and mains were perfect, apart from forgetting to give us the pigs n blankets plus the extra we paid for to be fair we were stuffed we wouldn’t have fit them in. Thank you, you saved the stress at Christmas and everyone was happy. Well done!
Visited here on Saturday 21st and it was absolutely fantastic. We had originally went to the Sunderland Toby but left after 5 minutes. Service, food and staff are outstanding. Very clean, food tasted amazing and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The beef was cooked to perfection. My wife had the vegetarian option which tasted fantastic. We will definitely be visiting again. Vegetarian options: My wife had the vegetarian option and it was very nice indeed. The food all round is very good.
Be aware if offered a big plate at the carvery it costs you extra , this is not clear as they advertise a king size plate as extra not the big plate. Did mention this to the manager and waitress afterwords as being misleading even though I did not ask for a refund it ended in a heated discussion with them just saying " that's the way we do it" ! It's like calling a double bed a king size and putting a king size duvet over the top ! Oh and BTW the beef was fatty and rather chewy
Great food every time, the staff are lovely and very attentive. Only annoying thing in here is the tables closest to the bar on your left as you walk in. The lighting needs sorting out. On dark or wet days, it's that dull in that part of this place, I felt like asking for some candles so I could actually see what I was eating and who I was sitting with. I did ask a member of staff if they could turn up the light's but they said they didn't think they go any brighter. Other than that great food service and value of money.
Sam our server was very attentive and made sure we were happy with our food and drinks. He checked on us on a few occasions which was lovely. The only downside to our carvery was the beef which was quite fatty. The rest was beautiful and we will definitely be visiting again
Excellent meal. I had beef and gammon and my wife had beef and pork. Both carveries were lovely. Our server Donna and our carver Ben were first class. Too full for a desert. We will return
Great place for food, cannot fault the Breakfast or either the Carvery. Well worth the price for these meals. Staff are friendly and efficient at the Washington carvery, this one is my local. Choice of all 4 meats with the Carvery meal to which the chef carves for you then it's help yourself to choose what you want on your plate. Parking: Disabled bays. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access from carpark to entrance.
This is the only Toby Carvery I will visit and we have 4 or 5 dotted around the north east area, but the Washington one is by far the best. Love the layout of the restaurant, the staff are all amazing and their carvery is just the best. Their gammon is never too salty and always perfect, the veg options are always well presented and delicious and the gravy is perfect. After visiting other Toby carveries sometimes can be hot and miss and not enjoyed it, but Washington never fails and is always consistent so thank you
Ben the guy at the carvery was very polite and patient especially with my 81 year old dad . Melissa our server was brilliant. She listened to my dad as he loves to talk and he loves his custard so she arranged more custard for him. She was bright and bubbly throught the time she served us . Both Ben and Melissa are a credit to the company. Those 2 staff alone would make us eat there more often .
