And the service was second to non polite very obliging. Nothing was to much trouble. The carvery is always very busy especially on a Sunday where it is generally fully booked. It is best to book a table in advance of your visit as we were seeing people being turned away due to this and them not able to accept walk ins. Despite booking a table we had to wait for a space to become free so we sat at the bar with a buzzer waiting for our turn. There was a family of 3 in the same position but during their wait, other groups of 3 who had only just arrived were being taken through suggesting they were sticking to specific tables for each booking. The queue for the carvery is always really long but does go down surprisingly quick and it's less of a wait then waiting for food to be served at tables. The carvery was great, plenty of meat and you help yourself to the rest. All of it was really good. If you have kids, it's a good idea to look at the menu as the kids can get 2 courses for a set price, it only worked out 50p more for them to have ice cream after their carvery with toppings and sauce. Over all, the food is great but not a very relaxed environment due to how busy it is. I also think its a bit naughty that the carvery is more expensive on a Sunday but I think there could be more meat options, I'm not sure.
I had a lovely meal yesterday with the family. I asked for a quieter area to sit as my son has autism. We could not have had a better seat and my son relaxed, smiled and actually ate his dinner. It was busy and noisy for my son in the main area but we couldn't hear it. It might just seem like another table but this little attention to detail helped in a massive way. The food was lovely also. Thank you.
I love coming to Toby in Thanet, and I have always been different day's and time's, I find that it would be a lot quicker if you had 2 on the front counter, the carver was amazing and certainly worked for his money. We also ordered pudding which was just ice cream and this took ages to come out and the 2 toddlers were getting restless. Food as always was lovely. Thank you.
Emma was lovely who served us at the table. She was friendly, polite, chatty, but also very busy. She was the perfect host and is a credit to your restaurant. Also the guy slicing the meat was lovely and friendly even though they are on long shifts he still had a friendly chat. Parking: Good
Took ages to be greeted and be taken to our table. The food ran out so massive queue for the carvery, then when we got to the self serve there was no mac and cheese, or cauliflower, the stuffing was just left burnt bits. The potatoes and carrots were under cooked. There was red bits in the turkey the server was happy to put on the plate. No mint sauce. Was hard to get staff as there wasn't any. Really disappointing visit, they shouldn't offer 50% when there isn't staff to cover it. Even with the discount the food wasn't worth it.
Very busy as everyone had 50% off vouchers. Queue for food moved quickly though. Good range of fresh, hot food. We were served by the lovely Sarah, who couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. A credit to Toby ThanetRecommended dishesPuddings Honeycomb Icecream Dessert, Carvery
Staff were helpful, friendly and informative. Two of our party had vegetarian options which were handed to us at the hot plate. This was much better than other Tobys where they are bought to your table and are cold by the time you collect your veg.
Came for breakfast with my mum, bacon was mostly fat, and very salty and dry. Only eggs they do now are scrambled which come in prepackaged and contain milk so no allergies taken into consideration regarding the eggs and no eggs in the kitchen to do a fried egg either. No bacon in the potato hash dish, has browns hard and dry. Menu states plum tomatoes, they were clearly chopped tomatoes. Mushrooms were cold Best part of the breakfast was the sausages.
Food was terrible. Went for a carvery with a group of 6 on a Sunday. We were expecting it to be busy , it was. We were expecting the food to be half decent as well… veg undercooked, only carrots, peas and cauliflower to choose from, all were hard and not cooked at all. Meat looked rough, covered in fat, burnt, chewy and hard consistency. Only nice thing was the desert and the staff…won’t be going back Vegetarian options: There aren’t any other than peas, carrots and potatoes Parking: Good parking
