Toby Carvery Dodworth Valley

About

Here at Toby Carvery Dodworth Valley, we believe there's only one way to do our beloved British roast – and that's properly.

Story

When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Barnsley's favourite carvery restaurant.

Amazing meal for a cracking price. Lovely friendly staff. Book ahead if going with a group as they can get busy. Better than I could cook at home and cheaper too. I'd be so large if I worked here!
Very vibrant, well managed service. Staff are friendly & helpful, offering suggestions of choices when asked. Very attentive to their customers. The food choices are many, with vegetarian options available, including choices to accompany the carvery instead of meats. The venue is clean, with parking spaces available & wheelchair accessible. A full working bar offering beers/ciders/spirits/soft drinks & hot beverages. Suitable for families, couples or even a stop off whilst driving past!
We have been coming to Toby at Dodworth for years and we always have a brilliant time. The staff are always friendly and the food is always good quality. I am a particular fan of the Yorkshire Puddings and the gravy. This is definitely the best carvery in the area, I would thoroughly recommend.Food: 5/5
Food was OK, you can fill your plate up if you want to.. some things were over cooked like the roasted potatoes and sprouts but the rest was decent. We ordered pigs in blankets and they were lovely. The staff were very friendly and attentive.Food: 4/5
Food was OK refill on soft drinks good .Plates could do with changing it kinda put me off my food black marks on plateFood: 3/5
Called in without booking and got a table straight away. Decided on just the carvery and a bottle of wine. Pleasantly surprised as lamb was available and it was absolutely delicious. Asked for a bottle of house white wine and this was very Pleasant indeed. Didn't have room for a pudding. Will definitely be back
We always receive a warm welcome and have light hearted humour with servers Chloe and Chelsea. Whenever we go for a carvery, Josh is always bubbly and charismatic and asks us about our day. Professional staff, clean establishment, tasty food. Parking: Personally would say not enough disabled bays. Parking is free but be sure to put your registration plate into the computer system.
My fault for not booking forgot it was a bank holiday so it took a little while to get seated. Was told 50 minutes, but the wait was maybe 10. I wouldn't recommend coming on a busy day, especially for individuals who are ND or find noise/busyness overwhelming. Can get very loud, especially with children. More details in the accessibility section. A server never came round to our table after being told there would be one, but I don't mind because I've been before and, again, it was busy. Tasty food as always and still not bad to say there was a little bit more of a raise in price with it being a bank holiday. Roughly £15 each that's including one king-sized plate! Photo looks messy and doesn't do it justice, but the food here is gorgeous. I'd love to go back again soon Vegetarian options: Not vegetarian or vegan myself, but there are vegetarian options there for certain! Just make sure to ask if unsure. The food is usually labelled as vegetarian-safe. Dietary restrictions: Unfortunately, I have no definite comments about those with dietary restrictions such as coeliac and allergies, I didn't really note if there were any cross-contamination given that it's like a buffet in which you serve yourself, I'd imagine some might accidentally touch something like the stuffing while ladling veg or the condiments, but there are definitely options for vegans and vegetarians for certain. Do note, coeliacs, that some stuff that isn't immediately obvious contains wheat Cauliflower cheese and gravy often have flour in, as that's the process to make a roux, which is basically the foundation to a lot of sauces and gravies. Parking: Again, during peak times, parking was extremely difficult, but we managed to get in. Wheelchair accessibility: Accessibility wise, avoid peak times and days if Neurodivergent as it can get very loud and busy. Wheelchair users, I'd also avoid the busy times. There was absolutely no way a wheelchair user could have been seated with how busy it was. Off-peak, it should be a lot more accessible. Cane users will still have difficulty in peak times, but should get through it easier than most other types of disabled individuals.
Food was good service too can't beat a Sunday carvery .Food: 5/5
Typical Toby affair, passing through area, not much option to find place to eat around. Limited choice of bitter which was disappointing. Carvery food ok, not brilliant, not that hot, Yorkshire puds not brilliant soft. Called today, Saturday lunch time around 12:30. Staff friendly and welcoming. You must remember to put car reg into machine inside to avoid a fine too
