Woeful company. Every branch I've had to deal with is consistently incompetent across the company. Had the unfortunate experience of Thornley Groves on a number of occasions over the last 20 years. Whether that be as a Tenant, Sales, Landlord, Property management, Case management. The client experience is always awful. If you have the option to, do your business elsewhere.
DO NOT USE THORNLEY GROVES Where do i begin, we moved into our property and upon arrival were greeted with stained mattresses ill let you guess what it was stained with. An unclean flat in every room see attached pictures. Rest assured after our own initial clean they did send cleaners out to the flat a WEEK later. After this, we obviously were not in the best move with Thornley Groves, we tried to have minimal contact with them due to their lack of pre planning and customer service. The rest of the year went swimmingly, we had no issues and no contact with them at all. We did not get a professional cleaner in at the end of our tenancy because why would we? When the flat we moved into still had white stains on the sofas, socks down the side of the beds, mars bar wrappers under the sofa clearly not a professional clean. We cleaned the flat to a better standard compared to when we moved in. A week ago we get a £390 charge saying they had to get professional cleaners in to clean ‘dust’. 390 GREAT BRITISH POUNDS for some dust. We went back and forth to dispute the charges but after a week of the staff taking days to reply we decided to bite the bullet. At this point, we were not surprised at all, ended up paying the charges as to dispute this you have to pay an extra £270 and in our eyes it’s not worth the hassle. We would rather pay the outrageous charges for some dust and have no contact with the incompetent members of staff at Thornley Groves than carry on a dispute and have regular contact. I hope it brings the company satisfaction, taking money off people for no apparent reason and providing no valid explanation. For your own good, please avoid this so called ‘established’ company.
I have rented two properties with Thornley Groves in recent years and cannot fault the excellent service provided by the staff who have been excellent, always responding quickly and effectively to any issues I have encountered. Their friendly and genuine attitude have made the experience stress free even if some of the issues are complex and not completely under their control they have always been transparent.
We’ve had the pleasure of dealing with Lucy Clegg at the Monton branch of Thornley Groves Lettings. Lucy is very professional, knowledgeable, trustworthy and always approachable. She communicates effectively and keeps us informed every step of the way, ensuring that both ourselves and the tennant are happy, giving us peace of mind knowing that our property is in good hands. Tried to take way too much off my deposit at the end claiming cleaning charges that were ludicrous. Make sure you document everything and take pictures of the state of the house as you leave it. Got most of my deposit back through the protection scheme, adding £500 to my re-imburesemet.
I am lucky to have Brogan as the Property Manager for my apartment in the Deansgate South Tower. My tenants have previously been quite poor at communicating, and there have been other issues too. Despite the challenges, Brogan has recently arranged the apartment to be let for another 12 months, which I am very happy with. Her communication has been timely, clear and polite, exactly what I need from a Property Manager as a landlord, and I am sure the tenants appreciate the service too. Thank you Brogan
I requested maintenance assistance from Thornley Groves for several issues in my property, including urgent fire safety concerns that legally required action within 24 hours. It has now been a month, and not a single issue has been resolved. Attempts to communicate via phone have been consistently unproductive—they simply don’t answer. Adding to this, a neighbor informed me that they reported an issue 3 months ago and have yet to receive any response. The lack of response and action on serious matters such as fire safety is alarming. Given my experience, and that of my neighbor, I cannot recommend purchasing or renting through this company. Their disregard for tenant safety and property maintenance is a serious red flag for any potential clients.
i recently arranged some viewings with thornley groves as i am moving to the area. really poor experience as the agent turned up late to the viewing, as he was late we had to view with other people which was just awkward! the person we viewed with knew nothing about the property and just kept telling us i dont know with any questions asked. we were then told we could only put 1 application in despite viewing multiple properties and the market being competitive, to put this into context, every other letting agent would let you apply for as many as you like. we then had to wait 4 days to hear back from them to let us know, where as the other agent we used gave us an outcome the same day, so we went with another agent. wouldnt recommend at all, felt like they would cater for students but not for anyone else.
First time rent from Thornley Groves. Honestly, the first impression was not really good, my flat has lots of issues and they did not fix them before I moving in. But my property manager Michael Richardson is such a prefissional and nice agent--quick reply, help me solve issues immediately, always in patient. Have to say, he is the best agent I have met in UK, also much better than I met in Australia!
I have just used Thornley Groves to sell a flat in Salford, while I have been 200 miles away and unable to attend. This involved the end of a tenancy and furniture removals all of which were handled for me. This also being a tower block, with all the challenges of access, was not straight forward. It went very smoothly and nothing appeared to be too much trouble for Stuart Daniels and Natasha Conway. I am very grateful indeed.
