Really lovely visit to The Wrestlers on a typically cold and wet Sunday in April. The expansive open fire was a welcome greeting into the pub with low lighting, comfy leather sofas, low bar with stools and many an ale on tap and candles a-lit on the tables. I’d booked a table for two for Sunday lunch and we ordered the Welsh lamb roast, with extra cauliflower cheese which was very generously portioned and absolutely delicious - roast potatoes in particular. Service was quick considering it was a busy Sunday afternoon and staff were friendly and reasonably attentive. Definitely worth booking a table if you’re in the Highgate area or you’re in London and fancy a lovely Sunday lunch!
The ambience was reminiscent of a by gone age. The beers were lovely. The staff superlative. The food is great, varied options. Can’t fault any aspect of The Wrestlers.Food: 5/5
Stepping out in North London for a change and couldn't have had a better lunch. It was surprisingly quiet but perhaps something to do with being a little early 12.15 and perhaps the Queen funeral weekend. Regardless the welcome was great and the service efficient, friendly and relaxed. The roast beef was top notch and you can't beat decent horseradish. Really good and the Eton Mess was excellent albeit on the sweet side. Oh. Cauliflower cheese as a side was nice. More cauliflower and less cheese so didn't feel too heavy.
Laid back local pub with friendly staff and varied clientele, you are made to feel very welcome. Selection of beers and ciders, I had the traditional haddock and chips which was just spot on. Very reasonable prices. This is one of Highgate’s historic pubs with a long history, but has remained very individual and unpretentious. Everything a pub should be then.
Excellent, friendly service. Good food, nicely presented. Very helpful person behind the bar. Paul
Okay. So this space has a lot of the locals come woth friends, family and lovers.. Oh and lovely dogs. This space is warm and cosy. Could do with setting the lights a little lower as its pretty bright. But didn't take away from the feel. The food Sunday roast was actually REALLY good. The beef was tender and everything on the plate well seasoned. Tasted even better than it looked. The veg roast was also delicious and we'd definitely go back especially for the roast AND good service. Service was on point. Very friendly staff indeed. Makes all the difference. You'll might have to book a table though as many of them were reserved and we just about squeezed and a small table in a cosy corner. On another night, might not have been so lucky. So call ahead. Unless of course you're heading over just fir a drink. Drinks selection is decent. Nice beers and okay wines to choose from. Enjoy!
Love the Wrestlers. It’s our favourite spot for Sunday Roast in the area, compared to other pubs. The quality of the food is definitely supreme. During the week, the food menu is different, and I really recommend you to try their calamari
Another evening of friendly conviviality in this ‘local’ pub was made even better by a genuinely warm welcome from its lovely staff ,as ever ..and, from its new ‘mine host ‘Haroun ….which was indeed a most refreshing change….that heralded the start of an early evening ‘responsible ‘ quaffing session . Looking forward to doing it all again ….maybe this evening ! Thankyou to all Paul
Had a lovely evening! Such a lovely building with character great food and service! Good atmosphere! Will be going back!Food: 4/5
To be honest, not great. Outside back garden stank of smoke, however the table was clean. The menu has some really good options, however the menu isn't totally the same as the online one before you get your hopes up. Drinks were quick to be brought over and so was the starters and main. We booked for 7pm, by the time they took our dinner plates it was 8pm... they had been waiting there a while. Then when we asked about their pudding options 3 very good options the waiter said that the kitchen had already closed. I feel like a warning would have been nice. So we walked to tesco to get our pudding. Not sure I'd recommend in all honesty.
