Such a fascinating place to spend a few hours. In terms of what the National Trust is about it's definitely 5 star though for kids I'd give it 4 as there isn't a great deal for them. No play area though that's such a minor point and there are plenty of hand on things for children to do like dressing up and crafts. So much to see and experience and the staff are great. Cafe is handy too.

As a family we enjoyed visiting the workhouse and have visited it a few times now. The audio guide that takes you around is very informative and the kids love this way of learning about a place. We have also been back on a guided tour which was excellent and great to learn about the development and changing use of the sight.

Excellent well maintained property. Tells the story of the building from 1834 to 1980. You really see what life was like in the workhouse at the time. This one was the model for all work houses in the future. Interesting for adults and older children. If a National Trust member free to go in. No need to book. Open now March 2018 to October underfloor heating so not cold.

Went with my son not really for kids as they cannot understand the magnitude of the time and place. As a adult found this fantastic how times have changed. But how the times have not changed for the poor just advanced in years To see how the small in height the people were and how they were separated and soon as they stepped on the workhouse wow wow wow

Excellent facilities, great place to visit, really worth a day trip. Very informative guides and ready to assist where necessary. Disabled friendly and if you can walk a little the upper floors are well worth it.
