Really attentive staff who couldn't do enough. Food was hot and and came out together. We had starters and mains and all were lovely. We came in a group of four, one pescitarian and the Woodsman catered well for this dietary requirement even supplementing meat in the roast Dinners. We raved about the tandoori mayo. It was so good. The chef even cane out and spoke to us which was nice. We had a lovely time and will definitely be back. We came not that long ago and wasn't impressed but Emma and her team have worked hard to get the pub to this standard and I will now definitely be coming back. Thanks again!
We called in today for a bite to eat, in the past we have been disappointed with the food and service, but decided to try it again. Wow what a difference, menu was varied and offered something for everyone. The food we ordered was excellent piping hot and home made, the service couldn’t have been better. We were told later that it was under new management for the past 2 weeks. We would highly recommend this place, we will certainly be going back again and telling friends.
Ellie & Carl have done amazing things with this pub in such a short space of time!! The food is outstanding and is a complete turnaround to what it was. the drinks are perfectly served and the beer and Cask is most certainly on point. Certainly the Woodsman is a try if your in the local area or even on the M6 and need a pit stop!! A huge bonus is they have working Electric charging points for your car!!
Lovely clean pub with plenty of space and friendly staff. Stopped here with twin babies and two beagles on our way up to Scotland and the menu had a great range including veggie and vegan options. The food was delicious. Close to the motorway and definitely better than stoping at services!
Was surprised as expected run of mill pub grub, the food was delicious and definitely not run of the mill. Was prepared fresh when ordered. Parking on site with a charging point for electric vehicles. Wasn't overly busy when I went so there was a short wait for the food to be served. Overall a good food experience.
Booked here for Sunday lunch. All the staff were most accommodating of my families dietary requirements and made us feel most welcome. The food was delicious, definitely returning!
Husband myself and grandson 17yrs had the festive menu today. The food was delicious it was still hot when it reached the table. Service was spot on. I'm back tomorrow with my husband. So happy we booked our meals here
I gave it 1 star for the tea. Not sure what the hot food was like but don't ask for a baguette with rump steak, mushrooms and onions. It actually came on panini with lumps of meat, a threat of onion and mushroom. There was even pink blood stains on the panini and lumps of fat and gristle in the meat. Would not recommend. When I told the waitress she looked embarrassed and said that she'd let the chef know. My friends vegetarian baguette, sorry panini, was also not good. It wasn't cheap either. Nice cup of tea tho. Would never go back there again.
First visit since management change. Well kept beer and good service but, visit was let down when the manager was dealing with an under age drinker. Foul mouthed and almost aggressive wasn't what I expected, obviously needed to be assertive on this serious matter but, The Woodsman is supposed to be a nicer Pub you could take your mother to for lunch,
This place has really gone from bad to worse. We called on Friday night around 10pm and witnessed a very drunk man with tattoos exposing himself at the bar The group he was with thought it was hilarious and began to sing random songs. We raised our concern about this to the bar person who was powerless to intervene. Punch Inn you need to get a grip. A minority are ruining this pub for a huge potential audience of people who live nearby but don't want to feel intimidated when they visit their local.
