Story

The Winsford Academy (simply referred to as 'Winsford Academy' ) in Winsford, Cheshire, England was established in September 2010 following the amalgamation of the two predecessor schools; Verdin High School and Woodford Lodge High School. It is located on the campus of the former Verdin High School on Grange Lane that was established in 1970 and was initially one component of a two-campus school, with history spanning from its original founding as Verdin Technical School in 1895.

In September 2013, we moved into a new, £20 million purpose-built school which includes 60 classrooms with flexible learning spaces; a 400-seat theatre in the Performing Arts Centre; Learning Resource Centre; sports facilities; science labs; drama and dance studios; music rehearsal rooms; media suites; art studios and technology workshops.

We have some basic rules of engagement we would like to share. They are fairly simple, and should be nothing new to you, but we want to make sure we are clear regarding what type of conduct is acceptable on our Facebook Page. We expect you to follow these guidelines so please take a minute to read them and keep them in mind whenever you participate.

We want to hear from you and, therefore, encourage comments, critiques, questions and suggestions. We simply ask that you stay on topic, post content and commentary that is relevant and applicable, respect other people’s opinions, avoid profanity and offensive statements, refrain from posting illegal content, and do not post any personal information such as your email address or phone number. Specifically, we will not tolerate posts that are:

• Abusive, harassing or threatening to others
• Defamatory, obscene, vulgar or depicting violence
• Hateful, racist, sexist or discriminatory in any way
• Fraudulent, deceptive, misleading or unlawful
• Spamming in nature
• Link baiting (embedding a link in your post to draw traffic to your own site)

Please note that photos, whether emailed to The Winsford Academy or posted on our Facebook Page, will not be accepted if vulgar, depicting violence, obscene, offensive (racist, sexist or in any way discriminatory) off-topic, or depict anyone who appears to be under age 18. The Academy in its sole discretion has the right to refuse publication of any photo it does not deem appropriate or relevant for the Academy and the community.

We will also not tolerate the uploading of files that contain viruses or programs that could damage the operation of other people’s computers or are deliberately disruptive, or the use of our Facebook Page to sell products, solicit money, or recruit fans or followers.

Please understand that conduct outside of these guidelines will result in your comment being removed, and possibly, you being banned from our Facebook Page. We actively moderate and engage on this Facebook Page, so if your comment does not appear, there is a good chance that you've violated one of the conditions above.

Just to put things on the bright side, be sure to give us a ‘like’, and invite your family and friends to ‘like’ our Page to receive day-to-day developments at the Academy. The Academy appreciates all the support from current pupils, ex-pupils, staff, friends and family, and all other fans of The Winsford Academy.
