This place is horrible. Rude woman and her husband run the place. I was nothing but polite to them. I was surprised to hear the staff complaining about how much they hate tourists. I am from the UK before she gave me change I told her I don't have a wallet to hold coins and for whatever reason she decided to give £3 of change in 20p pieces, even though I could see she had much larger coins in the cash register and I asked several times if she could do larger coins. Very spiteful woman. The cutlery was dirty and the food tasted horrible. Really bad experience would not recommend. Overpriced and stale food. Do yourself a favour and avoid this awful place.
Charming tea room that can accommodate 24 people in one go. Could be really busy during peak hours. Nice decor, cozy atmosphere, I quite enjoyed the experience. In terms of the price, I can probably say it is reasonable due to its remote and popular location. Nice and pleasant staff. Worthy of another visit.
Lovely tea room hosted by its owners in their family home. We had tea and scones which were delicious and also cake and sandwiches. Everything was lovely and so cozy. Definitely recommend a visit.
Just reading the reviews and I must say we were the only customers in your coffee shop, we did enjoy the tea and scone however you made very little attempt at conversation which left us feeling slightly uncomfortable considering you were both within our vicinity when the shop was practically empty. I know we are not paying for interaction but a little bit of conversation will surely not hurt? Thank you for the lovely tea hope you can take this as constructive criticism rather than a negative review.
A apostly fabulous little tea room very British lovely coffee and teas as well as cakes and sandwiches decently will come again next time I come by
Lovely place, nice place to pop into on your visit to Bibury, lovely staff, had a nice server and she was able to make my order fast, I also ordered and ice cream sundae which she also made herself and it was lovely I would definitely recommend a visit
Five stars for location and decor, three stars for food and price. Still, worth a visit.
Tea stains and crumbs all over the table despite the fact we had to wait 5 minutes to sit down. Unbelievably overprived for a cup of tea and a mediocre cake. This place should be avoided, there is a hotel nearby that is better reviewed which does tea and cake for half the price.
Awful place! The cake was disgusting and overpriced. I felt that they segregated me and my partner based on our ethnicity. For example, they refused to put the money in my hand and put it on the counter top instead. I actually had my hand held out politely but it was promptly ignored. They berated us when we chose our own piece of cake which, by the way, had no signs to say you can’t help yourself- it was an easy mistake to make and we apologised, but were loudly chastised in front of the other customers which, my partner who suffers with anxiety, found extremely uncomfortable. I ordered a cup of tea for my girlfriend but it never arrived, which annoyed me but my she was cautious of making a scene so we asked for a bottled drink instead. My girlfriend in fact, asked the waitress directly for hers, who proceeded to place the drink in front of another member of our party- who just so happened to be Caucasian. My partner, humiliated, at this point, left the tea room in tears. I am absolutely disgusted by the attitude at this absolute hole, and resent having handed over any money. My significant other had been so excited about this trip and seeing her so upset has made me livid. Regardless of ethnicity I would advise ANYONE to avoid this “establishment” at all costs. I would 100 percent give this dusty, dated, dive 0 stars if possible.
Terrible! We were really disappointed with this tea room. They took us in though they knew we had three kids aged 4, 3, and 1 with us. We sat down and our kids were excited and were a little loud. As parents we were trying to get them to keep quiet. However, just literally 2- 3 mins into our visit there, one of the owners told me "Can you get your kids to be quiet? We have other people in the place". I found it rude and explained to him that we are trying and it's not that easy to negotiate with young kids. Also, told him that if they are unable to tolerate it they should have a clear "No young children" policy. For that the reply I got from was beyond shocking "Other people have control over their kids and you guys don't have!" Seriously, who are these people to offer free parenting advice to customers? Our kids were just talking loud and NOT throwing a tantrum or causing any damage. We felt un-welcomed and decided to leave. We said "We are leaving. This is disappointing service and they need to work on that" and for that we got a "Off you go.. off you go... please leave now"!! Shocking and unbelievable bad. If you have young children don't waste your time going here. They have zero sense of customer service. I would highly recommend they have a no young children policy upfront to save parents the pain of listening to their parental advice. Most parents would respect that if restaurants have such policies.
