Enormous hotel in Askrigg. Bar to suit all tastes. Local beer well kept. Only had a drink. A bit short on atmosphere, otherwise fine.

Very accommodating considering they were busy and we had not booked. Lovely haddock and chips and then creme brulee. Good food and good atmosphere too.

After reading the reviews, I went here with "Fawlty towers experience" in my mind. The food is typical pub food, and actually the staff were pleasant so nothing to fear. Don't expect fine dining, but it's a pleasant enough pub and the bar area is dog friendly. However if you have a choice, go to the king's arms just down the road

Lovely food and very welcoming staff. Children really enjoyed the chicken goujons.
