Lovely pub in Godstone opposite the village green . Parking can be found either to the front of the pub or at the rear . Lovely outside garden to the rear with a fire pit . We ate inside the restaurant, greeted on arrival by a lovely lady that showed us to our seats , plenty of places to sit . Lovely decor inside . Menu I have attached in pictures . Very tasty food , no complaints at all . Excellent service too. Would definitely come back .
Really good meal here last night. Food was nice. Cocktails were on point. Our waitress Carol really topped the evening off. Super attentive and always wore a smile. Well done guys!
Beautiful setting with a great selection of food and drink. Super friendly service. Ordered the truffle rigatoni which ended up to be tagliatelle instead and lacked truffle aroma and flavour, but was still good. Kids meals were decent and prices are fair.
We wanted a meal after dropping our son at Gatwick and not wanting sit in a queue at the Dartford Crossing and so pleased to find The White Hart. What a lovely venue and clean. A very warm welcome on arrival from Helen, who showed us to our table and brought the menu and asked what drinks we would like. The food was absolutely lovely and our plates were full, we both had a pork roast. I did manage a dessert as well, deciding on the Banana & Miso Caramel Bomb, as soon as my wife saw it I suddenly had to share it! It was delightful. All of the staff who served us were attentive and very polite. We would certainly recommend to friends to visit.
We were greeted in a friendly manner. My husband has mobility problems and we were offered a radar key for the toilet, I have one, so it wasn't needed, but glad for the offer. On toilets, they were clean and smelt fresh. Our waitress was delightful, very bubbly and helpful. We all had chicken, 3 ways, grilled, in a caesar salad and chicken and ham pie, it was all delicious. My husband's only comment was a lack of anchovies on his salad. Our daughter and I thought the vegetables well cooked and enjoyed the dressing on them. Thank you.
Disappointing. A rare occasion for us to have a Sunday lunch out with our friends for which we'd specifically arranged childcare and were really looking forward to. The lady that served us most of the time was pleasant and trying her best as she'd only been there a few days but all the staff seemed overwhelmed and harassed. The drinks took ages to come and we ended up having to ask for them and they were then brought immediately so were probably sitting somewhere for a while. The food also took an hour to come from ordering. I would say the food was tasty albeit rather salty. The roast we ordered was advertised as 'half a chicken' but was in fact a breast and a thigh - this is not what we were expecting and many of our party would have made a different selection had this been correctly described on the menu. When we mentioned this to a staff member, after some defensiveness he very reluctantly offered to bring some more chicken and delivered it with a very sour and somewhat angry demeanour. My husband ordered the brownie for dessert at a price of £7.95. It has to be the smallest portion I have ever seen, literally the width of one of a half fingers. I'm not sure if this is standard or we were being punished for asking for a bit more chicken but I was shocked at size of the brownie especially at the price we paid! It was also very cold inside the restaurant and most of us sat with our coats on for the duration. All these things made for a disappointing meal but the attitude of one staff member in particular who I believe was a senior staff member left us all with a bad taste in our mouths. Service with a smile goes a long way. I had very fond memories of the White Hart when I was young but will not be returning.
We arrived and was greeted by a lovely waiter, but never saw him again. We were then served by someone who wasn’t overly attentive…we had to go and get him to order our meal, order drinks and ask for the bill. He was along with 3 other staff always stood around chatting at the bar. My Dad asked for his steak sandwich to be cooked well done and it came out pink. When he complained, the waiter told us that was just the cut of meat and blamed it on the new oven?? He then told us that he didn’t work here?! All very odd. My partner and kids then arrived and ordered their food. When asked if we could swap out the peas for another vegetable we were told this wasn’t allowed?! The food took over an hour to arrive. This was also blamed on the new oven. The kids at this point we’re getting very restless and hungry. The food was very disappointing…bland and tasteless. When we wanted to leave and pay the bill, we were left waiting for the waiter to return. I had to go and find him, only to find him along with the other 4 staff having a chat at the bar!! There was no compensation for our terrible experience - not even an apology - they just kept blaming the oven. We paid £88 for the privilege. Such a shame as we’ve previously had good experiences. We won’t be back.
Nice, friendly atmosphere - with quiet background music, which was relaxing. We were waited on well, but - maybe the clothing could be changed, to something official or waitress like! Instead of an old pair of jeans & casual sweatshirt Being a vegetarian, I longed for something more casual, like Halloumi & Chips, with the same as is served with the standard Fish & Chips....but, I managed with choice made. All the staff were very polite and helpful & the custom was very popular.
Not the best meal I have had at this pub. We were greeted as soon as we got there, shown to a table and drinks came pretty quick. Very friendly start. Then we were left to our own devices for a while and eventually made an order. I had Fish & Chips, my wife had the pie. Both came out hot but suspiciously shiny. It turned out to be the greasiest meal I have ever had. The elderly lemon on my plate was left in a small pool of oil. The batter, miraculously was both crispy and greasy at the same time. A shame because every other time I have been, the food has been great. We did feedback to the waitress that is was oily - she apologised totally not her fault and asked if there was anything she could do so good service. I didn't see the point of doing anything to the dish so ate the fish leaving crispy, oily batter on the plate. Nice beer though. Not a total loss but a disappointing meal.
If you would like to be treated like a piece of dog mess on the managers shoe then head here. Such a shame as used to be great, but service had hit an all time low. Instead head to the bell inn just a couple of meters up the road, really great menu and service.
