The Whiskey Jar

Story

The Whiskey Jar is now really getting into its stride, and even though there’s plenty we currently offer, there’s still lots more thrilling things to come.

This old textile mill has been quirkily restored and it now boasts 2 floors filled with comfortable seating booths and a downstairs event space that will play host to various live music events including bands, DJ's and acoustic nights.

In addition there will be an outdoor heated seating area where you can chill out and enjoy a BBQ when the sun is shining.

We are now supplying an eclectic range of award winning local pies and scotch eggs with a delicious range of deserts The bar is currently serving a selection of cocktails, local ales and of course a wide selection of premium whiskies. However, with a new unique cocktail menu and The Whiskey Jar tasting sessions underway, were certainly not sitting still. Come and find out about our ‘Hauf and a Hauf’ or get involved with one of our supper clubs, catering for all.

We have also now got a 2am licence on Friday and Saturday and a 1am licence on Thursdays, so whether you fancy coming straight after work or after a few other bars, we'll be open for you.

Great place for excellent cocktails Loved the smokey old fashioned and whiskey sours. Love music was excellent and the mood lighting and general atmosphere was amazing. With Dark and cool vibes. Normal wooden chairs inter mixed with large leather Chesterfields. Great for singles. Couples and groups. Stay very friendly and professional definetly recommended Wheelchair accessibility: The main entrance is up some steps, no ramp. Also the door is closed and is of the traditional wooden opening type so does need to be pushed open for entry. Not really recommended for wheel chair users.
Went to ther whiskey tasting and it was great. They have a large selection of whisky and other drinks at the bar. Friendly staff great atmosphere topped with live music. What else do you need for a Sunday afternoon experience . Definitely going to there next tasting event.Service: 5/5
Nice venue and live music is really high quality. 2 stars because the toilets are not safe for women. It's dark, dinghy, mixed gender and completely separate from the main area.Service: 5/5
Great bar with lovely staff. First time visiting, and I will definitely be back. Fantastic band on.Service: 5/5
Impromptu visit to whiskey jar in Manchester. Had to try the cocktails as it was happy hour everyday u till 7pm 2 for 1 cocktails. Had a whiskey sour and a salted caramel old fashioned. Note 2for1 is on same drinks only absolutely the BEST old fashioned I have had. The atmosphere was lively and the dimmed lighting and sofa area seating gave the whole place a very chilled out vibe.
Sheer pleasure to visit the Whiskey Jar in the Northern Quarter of Manchester. Though it was a weekday but the place was jam packed. It became evident as to why this place was so full. The hosts Queen Bayard and Joe Bagpipes were amazing and very welcoming. The lineup of musicians was spectacular - it was a joy to listen to great musicians - surprised that there was no cover charge to enjoy being entertained by such great artists and hosts. The atmosphere is really laid back - the diversity of people in attendance made it a joy to experience true melting pot environment. Big shout out to Whiskey Jar and especially Queen Bayard and Joe Bagpipes. Keep it up. Look forward to visiting again.
It’s a nice place. Good selection of whiskey. HOWEVER, the male bar tender after putting the drinks through the till, at a cost of £9.90 very sneakily then added the maximum tip on the card machine making the total £13. Absolutely disgraceful.Food: 1/5
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here, the Irish girl behind the bar was very helpful and knowledgeable about the different whiskeys. The live music was great entertainment.
Great time, make sure you go for the open mic nights or some other live music is playing, it did get rather crowded but the musician Zack really added a lot to the night taking all requests and creating a real fun atmosphere.Service: 5/5
We had no food but we did have whiskey we came for an open mic to watch keddy sowels perform, it was goddam amazing, stunning performance in fact all the acts were great even the compare whom we'd heard things about because of his legendary put downs to noisy punters but he was very warm and friendly a real believer in the power of words and music I think. That night has to be about the music not about some lary blokes talking obnoxiously loud like most venues!! Good work
