Great pub, space for dogs and good food. Will definitely return, staff were pleasant and chatty. Dog thought it was great to be given a treat advice to landlady - appreciated the gesture, but please ask before giving treats as some dogs are on restrictive diets.
Good beer, good food reasonably priced. The couple running the place where great. We were so impressed we went back the night after our first visit.
Food was great. Atmostphere really nice. Rooms were clean and comfy, though a little desk would have been useful for the laptop. Ludlow's a lovely looking place...only on street parking available.Rooms: 5/5
Lovely little pub. Shame about the male chef/manager whoever he is very rude man. They managed to fit a group of 11 of us in last minute today and the ladies were very accommodating. The man on the other hand ... When we came to pay we wanted to pay 3 separate ways. This was obviously too much for him to handle. He shouted "for god sake" threw the receipts all up in the air then ripped them up. My partner had death stares off him too which there was just no need for when we had put money in his till!!! Wouldn't go again as he didn't make us feel welcome. Get out of the game if you're too old mate! Very unprofessional!
We visited here a few times during our stay in Ludlow. Nice relaxed setting without the loud music of other places. Very friendly staff and I would say this was our favourite pub in the area.
Very Slow Service but Food Great. Dropped in on Saturday 25 November for a drink and met with Brother and Sister-in-Law. Lady serving was pleasant but it was slowest service I think I've ever had at a bar considering there was only one other person there. She was waiting for a bitter to settle and rather than asking me what I wanted while it did it, she just stood and looked at it. I finally ordered my drink/lager and she disappeared under the counter for what seemed like a minute or so before reappearing with one. My sister-in-law said their service was really slow too. Next day, four of us went in for a meal and during it, S-i-L knocked her wine over. I went to the bar to ask for a cloth and I was given a piddling piece of blue hand towel. Of course, It didn't touch it and was given more paper. As my friend who was with us rightly pointed out as she works in a pub, she'd be at the table clearing it up and giving it a spray. I think only on the third trip to the bar, did the lady, who was different from lady who served yesterday, finally came over and assisted. We finished our meals - I noticed that two staff were to-ing and fro-ing serving a couple at a table with their meal but why did it take two of them three trips each? In the meantime, our empty plates etc. were sat on the table for 20 minutes or so, so we put them on the table behind us. I know they had a large-ish party over the other side of the pub but why have two staff waiting on the table of two for so many trips? I know the folks had only taken over about six weeks earlier but honestly, they wouldn't survive if they served at that rate at our village pub. Pity the log burner at the one end of the pub has been with a faux gas or electric one. That said, we'd still go back as the food was wonderful.
In the heart of Ludlow 7 minutes walk from the lovely and idyllic Ludlow castle. Recently under new management Karen Steve George and Sam are welcoming and happy to help. Fantastic place to stay highly recommended Walkability: Market town of Ludlow and Ludlow castle few minutes walk away with the river at the bottom of the street from the pub
Beautiful historic pub, very friendly staff and locals. We decided to eat our evening meal here. Food was great for my wife, unfortunately they couldn't follow cooking instructions for my steak. My plate was taken away and returned with less sides than it originally came out with again the steak wasn't cooked to my request. My wife had nearly finished her meal very nice by the second time my meal came out & was still wrong?. The manager/landlady was happy to refund, but again, unfortunately I've already been disappointed with my wife already eaten and now I've gone without. Beer and wine was spot on lol
Food was absolutely lovely! They accommodate so well for a party of 12 of us. Really lovely staff and friendly atmosphere
Ludlow's oldest pub situated on the historic Lower Broad Street. Cosy and compact with a laid back atmosphere.Service: 4/5
