This understated pub offers a wonderful mixture of heritage it's been licensed for over 200 years with a modern selection of keg and cask beers displayed on Untappd screens and blackboards. The beers have been well curated, cover a variety of beer styles and there was some decadent options from Brew York. Friendly atmosphere, informal and absolutely worth the walk from the centre of Hull. Really quite marvellous and clearly very well managed.
Travelled a long way to get their Drunken Sailor untappd badge. Good selection of craft and cask beers. Staff and locals were friendly. It is a bit on the outskirts of town . They have a load of CAMRA awards for best Yorkshire bar on the wall so they probably are pretty good at what they do.
Cracking pub, great beer selection and distinctive homely surroundings. Well worth the short walk out from Hull old town 10-15 mins max We understand the current operation are coming to the end of their tenancy. If the freeholder and anyone else involved in the running of the pub are reading: If you have any sense at all, you'll retain this absolute gem as it is.
Great pub. If you're sick of corporate marketing all over pubs and want a warm and friendly atmosphere, the Whalebone is great. Good selection of excellent beers and ciders plus take away pints.
Very traditional old and well known pub with friendly staff & locals, hand pulled beers, masses of historic pictures & memorabilia from Hull & the 3 main professional sports teams on the walls. It's like a step back in time........such a shame therefore there's plans to unnecessarily revamp it. Someone needs to remember the phrase "if it ain't broke don't fix it!"
A Pub that's certainly off the "beaten Track" but well worth the effort!! Plenty of different Ales to choose from, photographs/artifacts/bottles adorn the panelled wooden walls, the locals are so welcoming, proper fire, you name it, absolutely fantastic boozer, called in for one pint and ended up staying all afternoon!!
A beautiful, historic pub tucked out of the way, but it's absolutely worth a visit. Brilliant and electic selection of beers try the Titanic Cappuccino Stout!, walls decked with historic photos of Hull and its inhabitants, and wonderful staff. Clean, full of natural lighting, and a fantastic place to share a few pints.
Great pub best in the area according to all the beer awards. 7 real ales 2 dark 3 pale 2 brown bitters and 6 real ciders. Great staff and very friendly regular customers. Highly recommended below is the licensee
Always has SIX Real Ciders no pretend stuff from all over the Country - a must visit for Cider Drinkers. UPDATE: No longer has ANY real cider following a change of landlord. Try Hop & Vine on Albion St, White Hart Pub on Alfred Gelder St, Alexandra Hotel on Hessle Rd and Ship on Hodgson St for real cider in Hull.
A fantastic old fashioned pub, friendly staff, local history, great customers, it always has a good selection of real ale, both cask and keg, ciders lager and spirits.
