Great food & pool table ! This place has just reopened and the food is amazing !! I had the chicken burger and my friend had the vegan meatballs, both tasted delicious!! Bottles of wine are very reasonably priced too !
Great local pub with frequently rotating craft beers. So pleased to have found a local pub with friendly staff and a pool table.
We really enjoyed it. Very long list of gins and beers. Food was a bit slow, but it was quite crowded so that’s ok.
This is a really cosy pub. The bar staff are really friendly and welcoming. A small but perfectly formed outdoor area with heaters. I was so surprised to find a pool table at the back of the pub. So for the last part of the evening, we challenged each other to a few games of pool
Have no idea why some people are knocking the food at this place. It has kept us coming back several weeks in a row. The Sunday Roast is absolutely sublime, I defy anyone to say otherwise. Such a fantastic chef and all cooked fresh to order so yes you have a little wait but its better than the dried up pre prepared gruel you get from some pubs. Staff are also great I highly recommend you eat here, especially on a Sunday.
Terrible experience, appalling service. We visited the pub for Sunday roast, there were only 4-5 tables having lunch in the entire place and the staff looked quite relaxed. The staff took our order but we only received our food 2 hrs later, after many complaints because the food was not ready and we could see that other tables were even served before us. We also had a 10 year old child at our table who was left to starve because they wouldn't serve us food. The staff made terrible excuses for their extremely bad customer service, first blaming it on the order machine not working properly, then mentioning one of the chef was off sick. It is clear that with only 5 tables to serve, the staff should be attending their tables and notice straight away if a table is left without food for 2 hours, and they should ensure everyone is catered for regardless of the system working or not. After having to restate our order, the food came all at the same time, however our child food breaded cod-chunks scampi arrived last and 20 mins after our roast. We had to tell the staff twice that we had a child at our table who was not receiving her food. We were told by the staff that as a gesture of apology they would have not charged us for the drinks, instead we found the entire bill charged to our card. We will never return to this pub again, we are still appalled by the poor level of service received and we will tell our friends and family to stay away too.
My fiance and I booked our engagement party here and had a fantastic experience. We had the whole back space of the pub, including a bar, and organised food trays from their menu EVERYONE commented on the excellent sausage rolls! Jon and the rest of the staff were so great and helpful before the party and on the night. All in all it was a fab evening and all our guests loved it! I highly recommend!
We came here for lunch, what a mistake! It's a cool looking pub but DO NOT come here for food. It's extremely expensive for poor quality of food. I had a piece of pan fried chicken breast, with absolutely no seasoning, and a side of soggy chips instead of salad that it comes with. It was the blandest most sorry looking plate I've ever seen. They could have at least included a bit of garnish? Or pepper? And for £12 what a disappointment. It must have cost them 50p to get those ingredients together. There were about 8 of us eating and every single one of us said the food was terrible. So I decided to complain. If I ran a pub myself that served food I would appreciate any feedback. The guy I spoke to who I found out was actually the owner was so ungrateful and disrespectful when I gave him my honest thoughts about the food he served. He actually looked offended. There was absolutely no apology. Any GOOD restaurant/pub that serves food will appreciate any and all feedback as usually they strive to please all customers and bend over backwards to make them happy and to provide good food. Not this guy. On top of that, I have a food allergy and I was made to feel embarrassed and guilty for making him go and ask the chef if the food I was ordering was ok for me to eat. Sorry for the bloody inconvenience!! Never coming back and wasting my money here and I would advise the same to everyone else.
Thoroughly loved our time at The Wellington for a birthday lunch on a Saturday lunchtime. The best fish and chips we've had and the sticky toffee pudding is to die for! Looking forward to coming back one evening to sample some of the 60+ gins on offer!
The pub wasn't even full and the waiters took 20mins to get our order for drinks/food. Ordered Sunday roast there was not much more choice on the menu and a starter so we could nibble while waiting for the main. The main took almost an hour and the started came after the main -so over an hour!. The glass were dirty from inside with a blue substance, that I scratched off with the nail and it easily came off. The main tasted good but the starter was terrible, the cheese on the fries didn't taste right and the truffles were non-existant. I won't even go there again.
