Unfortunate queues, but there is no doubt, the food is outstanding. You can choose from about 6 different kinds of fish, or lobster, scallops, and more. We waited in the queue for 1 hour and 10 minutes! Then sat at a table near the harbour and ate the most delicious fish and chips with sunset by the sea, so it was well worth the wait. My salmon was amazing, the most perfect light crispy batter.
One of the best chippies in the country, absolutely outstanding food time and time again. Haddock, cod, scampi you name it it’s fabulous at The Wee Hurrie. Take out and eat in your car round the corner from The Wee Hurrie looking out to sea. Smashing.
Great fish and chips down in Troon! Went fkrnthe haddock and definitely come back and try some more of that delicious menu!
This place was mentioned on QI. I had to check it out. Good veggie options and meat options. Veg tempura was banging so we're the chips. Worth the trek from Glasgow to get some.
Love the Wee Hurrie and been going for over a decade. Freshly caught fish of various types battered and cooked to order. The tartare sauce is also really great. Attached to MacCallum’s Oyster bar on Troon harbour right by the water. I usually have the cod, but have also tried haddock, hake and recently monkfish, which might be my new favourite. They operate a buzzer system so you can order then wait in your car. The chips used to be a lot better, a little too dry now.
The food was decent, and the place had enough space to park my car Food wise, I chose the haddock for my fish £6.00 but they had other options too.
I was so amazed by the fresh and delicious food I received from here, I ordered a portion of chips and it was a generous portion, they were cooked to perfection with every chip being crunchy and perfectly salted. I’ve never once been to a takeaway that has managed that, honestly the best chips I’ve had. I’m from England and the takeaway chips can be hit and miss. Thanks I wholeheartedly recommend this takeaway!
Well, compared to my previous experience & review things are not as good this time. We had one portion of scampi & chips, the scampi was soggy & not properly cooked, the chips were OK, but not as crispy as last time. I had a burger which seemed smaller than last time & unfortunately the extra bacon was burned black. We asked for extra salt & vinegar but only got a quick shake!! I have to say that in order to keep people coming back the quality needs to be consistent & the staff on the ball! On the positive side no queues....
Lovely little hidden gem of a takeaway. Very busy at times. Watch the seals in the harbour while you wait.
Great quality, wide range, excellent portion size and not expensive considering the foregoing. It's a kitchen, so you wait outside with an electronic device that bleeps and flashes when your order is ready. For that reason, I couldn't answer the 'atmosphere' question. Highly recommended.Food: 5/5
