We have been going to the Waiting Room for a long time 20 years??. It has changed and evolved but still great and the food is really delicious. The best vegetarian food definitely. It's better to have a table in the front part of the restaurant rather than the back.<b>Food</b>: 5/5

A warm and friendly greeting awaits you as you enter this homely restaurant. Staff, that feel more like old friends, serve a sumptuous menu of vegetarian delights. Highly recommended!

not my type of food, have had many vegetarian meals made by friends and they've always been delicious. bad stomach the next day and I wasn't even drinking. very overpriced and I didn't like the fact that the staff tried to add a huge tip on that was optional. won't be going back

I visited The Waiting Room yesterday with my fiancé for our Christmas date night tradition. We're staying with my parents in Darlington and looked up veggie/vegan restaurants nearby. We couldn't have picked a better place. The food was varied and delicious, generous portion sizes, cocktails were great, cosy and warm atmosphere, amazing maps on the walls, staff were friendly and helpful, barman Andy was a delight, and we had a nightcap with some of the locals thanks Ken for the recommendation of the drink "Rusty Nail", and thanks Verity, Steve and Bruce for the laughs and wedding dress chat. We got carried away and bought two bottles from the "wine cave" to take home! We'll be visiting again when we're next in the area. 100% recommend.

I loved my meal here. The staff were delightful and couldn't be more helpful if they tried. I strongly recommend this restaurant. My meat eating companion was very satisfied with their meal

I stopped here for a quick coffee due to a delayed train. Very pleasant atmosphere fab maps on the walls! and staff. Hope to go back for a meal at some point.

Be careful of opening times phone ahead as details incorrect here and also finishing serving food ahead of 2:30pm as things put away.  We arrived before 2:30pm and knew what we wanted...there was an air of "jobs worth" attitude from the chef or staff in the sense that once things had been put away, even if early, then that's what they will stick to.  In reply to Luke...  Hi Luke... we were at the counter discussing it at 2:29pm when we discussed it was not 2:30pm yet and the lady explained things had already been put away in the kitchen. You are so right about the disappointment of what we didn't have rather than did have :-... we've been previously and have enjoyed it some years ago..  and are holidaying in the area so don't get too many chances to visit.  Update for Luke... did you manage to find out more?

our go to restaurant on a sunday evening, to drink a glass of wine or beer to stave off those sunday blues. Great staff, fabulous food - the puy lentil enchilada is to die for, really nice warn vibe.....full marks guys
