I go to strathclyde students union every Friday after training. The bouncers are all sound. The pints are cheap. The vibes are good. Loads of pool tables and darts you can play. I would recommend getting a discount card - gets you discounted drinks and games. Sometimes the bar service can be really slow but it's only because they are willing to invest in their staff and train new people. The food is not great.
Great spaciois place for students with big screens and different areas to hang out , lozs of food and caffes but crem de la crem is the bar ..Great selectiom of bottles and drafts , wine , ciders , caned juice and fantastic food . We had veggy pacora, chickem pacora, chicken kebabs, massive spring rolls are fab. Selectiom of sandwices and gluten free club sandwiches. To top it all off ...watermellon to die for. Excellent fpr team get together and private time ..perfect place to watch world cup with booze and food, you can catch a game of pool in between too.
Strath Union is one the best places to hangout in University of Strathclyde. It consists of many cafes and eateries on each floor. So, you can enjoy food and beverages, also there's a place called " Terrace" where you can find different kinds of drinks alcohol/Non Alcoholic and even plenty of Indoor sports. It's an overall happening place with great ambience.
Cool place to grab a coffee and work
Nice and clean and lots of areas to sit, with food options as well.
Nice place for the students of Strathclyde to hang around, study or have group works...
Unfortunately, my dining experience at The Terrace fell short. The food lacked flavor across various dishes, leaving a disappointing taste. Hoping for an improvement in the culinary offerings. Don't buy food from here.
Clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly
Gone are the days of a grotty stereotypical Student Union, replaced by a bar that is more like a Brewdog but with cheap drinks and without that awkward feeling you're supporting a company with a toxic culture. The rest of the floor is filled with an open inside terrace of benches, deckchairs and AstroTurf for lazing about while enjoying the cheap food. Elsewhere in the building is a Roasters coffee shop way better that a Starbucks, cheap street food and plenty of space for hanging out with friends or studying in the newly decorated building
The new Strathy Union - now inside what used to the Colville Building - once upon a time the civil engineering building isn't as big as the old one - although to be fair the 90 John Street building was getting progressively run down and scabby over the years preceding the move...as an "oldie" I remember when it was Scotland's biggest pub in the 1990s and Level 8 attracted big bands. The indoor beer garden on the mezzanine level is cool, and the new games room with bar is again - smaller than the old one in the John Street building but that's a sign of the times I guess. Nice coffee shop on the ground floor.
