This is a terrific pub tucked away towards the shore line in West Sussex. We discovered it when just opened just before Covid by current the landlord, and watched it progress over the period since when we visit the area. Happily it continues. Smart inside, staff serve drinks at your table, and they have live music nights. Great little spot, but can't report on food as we have not eaten there.
We visited this pub as we were staying locally and had read the amazing reviews. From the outside it doesn’t look anything special but as soon as you open the door you feel genuinely welcomed. Super atmosphere, busy with locals and visitors alike. Staff very friendly and efficient plus the chef came and gave our dog a treat !! We went on a Thursday evening having not booked and thankfully there was a table. We were shown menus and told the specials on offer too . I had chicken stuffed with cranberry wrapped in bacon with seasonal vegetables, other half had steak & Stilton homemade pie with mash. Really delicious. For our desserts we had Apple & Blackberry Crumble with custard and a vanilla & caramel ice cream tart. The portion sizes are very good - you certainly know you’ve had a plentiful meal. We had a bottle of wine and a couple of soft drinks - it all came to £77 which I think was great value for what we received. We booked to return the next evening and the offerings where again excellent. I had steak with all the trimmings and husband has scampi .nThe landlady and all the staff made us feel welcome, it was great to hear the chat and laughter with barely a mobile phone in sight!! We will definitely return to this gem of a pub. Pity we weren’t staying longer as Sunday Roast sounded fabulous.nI’m very envious of residents who live permanently in this beautiful part of England - endless beaches, cafes & walks plus The Tudor Tavern to round off your day. Perfect .
Brilliant pub, live music every Saturday night.nTerrific choice of beers.nSky sports was on the televisions, one had the cricket on and the other one had F1 on.nYou would have too travel a long way to better this pub.
Had a lovely Christmas meal with friends. Starter and main really good. Food came out piping hot. When though there were 9 of us. Could improve desserts I think but otherwise, great value for money. We had a really good night.
Had a great night watching a brilliant band called Legend has it. Heat atmosphere, Food was lovely and table service an added bonus. Thank you for hosting us
