Three Kings in Haddenham, is a quaint pub. On my first visit, I brought my grandson for some hot chocolate and a snack after playing in a nearby playground. The atmosphere is charming, cozy and the staff was attentive. I only ordered a beverage, shared chips and chicken nuggets. My second visit this time with my granddaughter, we arrived at 330 pm, were promptly greeted and advised to choose where we'd like to sit. We chose a linen clothed table at the window seen in the photo, where it was quitter then then the rest of the pub. After a long wait, the wait staff asked us to choose another table, as the linen clothed tables were for dinner guests. This request didn't leave me feeling like a valued guests, while other guests were seated at the next table in the same area, only without the linen table clothes. This time I chose the crispy calamari as a starter, lasagna and garlic bread. I spent approximately 39GBP apparently not worthy of being a satisfied patron. The calamari doesn't match the description on the menu. It wasn't crispy, instead had a spongy sort of breading, was tasteless and one bite into it, nearly had me gagging. The inside of the breaded disaster looked like imitation meat, was rubbery and gross. The garlic bread was toasted, smelled good, however, one bit into it and all I could taste was oil used in browning it. Lasagna, arrived in it's own cute ceramic dish. Sadly, it was swimming in it's own oil?? I was looking forward to a warm meal, expecting a creamy, cheesy mouthful of delight. Only, it was over cooked, causing it to be served sitting in it's own oil. I tried the lasagna, calamari and garlic bread and don't recommend it. My grand children had chips, nuggets and hot chocolate. They fared better. I'd asked the wait staff early on about dessert menu, she never checked back on that, as she was occuped with dinner guest concerns. My order wound up being packed up to take home. When asked about the dining experience, the wait staff didn't make any offers to provide any other meal choice, take it off my bill or offer a good will gesture such sending a dessert home. Apparently, my comfort, experience and satisfaction at Three Kings wasn't of value to the wait staff. Kind regards, Renee
Hands down the best pub food in the area. The steak & ale pie on their lunch menus is one of the best I have ever had. If your looking for a dinner option you can’t go wrong with their rib-eye steak with peppercorn sauce so good you could drink a pint of it.
We visited the Haddenham Three Kings on their Thursday curry night. The curry was delicious and well priced. You get curry, naan, poppadoms and mango chutney with a bottle of cobra for £10.99. The only thing I'd suggest is maybe offering a mild and hot option as the curry served would definitely be too hot for some. The pub is lovely in general and nice for all occasions. The staff are always polite. I often visit for a cold beer and sit outside. Would definitely recommend. They also do lots of other nights such as fish and chips and burgers.
Booked here based on reviews on trip advisor for area. Nice family pub good portions and cosy atmosphere with real fire. After bit of wait for dinners. We had roast turkey and roast pork with crumble and sticky toffee. Reasonable priced and good value for Ely area.Food: 4/5
We met up with family for a pre Christmas lunch at the Three Kings. Good menu. Fair prices. Great roaring fire in the bar area. Good friendly atmosphere amongst the diners. Large car park outside. A little chilly an old building Some steep steps to the toilet area which the older generation are likely to struggle with. Overall a good choice.
Small and cozy pub with incredible food. Jay, the owner, is also the cook and his culinary skills are superb! Try the Steak and Ale pie I guarantee it will be the best you’ve ever had. If steak is your thing order the ribeye! It comes perfectly cooked as requested and is coupled with a peppercorn sauce that you’ll want to drink with a straw Lovely staff as well! Parking: Plenty of parking in the rear of the pub.
Absolutely fabulous food with a superb choice of different dishes especially the specials on weeknights. Brilliant selection of beers and wines. Superb staff who check to see if everything is OK, fast and efficient service although can expect a wait if the kitchen is backed up with orders on a busy Friday or Saturday night.
No frills dining but an extensive range of properly cooked dishes rather than 'ping' meals. All very reasonably priced. We haven't been since pre COVID for reasons nothing to do with the pub. But tonight we ordered a boeuf bourguignon and a braised lamb dish each with mixed veg and potatoes. Each dish under £16. There are daily and weekly specials and a popular Sunday roast. It was a relaxing evening. The staff are very friendly and will happily stop for a chat. Great to see a busy vibrant local village pub doing well despite the struggles many face with rising costs and falling customer numbers. We don't go that often but so glad this is our local pub. Parking: Right behind the pub, always spaces available. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible to the bar and dining area, not sure about the loos though.
Gorgeous old building and absolutely exceptional food! LOADS of different beers for those who partake! Decent sized car park and all very reasonably priced for top notch food
An excellent dining experience at The Three Kings after a shaky start when we were told we had to sit in an area away from other diners with our very small well behaved dog! The £20.99 three course menu on a Monday was extensive and the food quality and choice was very good. Service times were reasonable. We were visiting the area but would definitely visit again if near by. One negative is the garden area which is shabby at best.
