Very nice pub serving good food in a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend, and tempted to give it five stars. Could have a better non-meat menu, which is the only drawback for some. Definitely worth driving the extra mile south from that other place on the Wycombe to Marlow road. Highly recommend.
Fantastic new staff, welcoming ambience and heart warming food. It was great to visit this pub again since it was shut. We loved everything, definitely this will soon be our go to place for every weekend. Well done to the team for amazing work.
This is the first time we have visited this pub since it changed hands. We were very impressed with the welcome and friendliness of the staff. The food was very tasty and the presentation was excellent. We enjoyed the pub before but feel it has improved under the new owners. We will definitely be going again and I am happy to recommend to others. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options available. Parking: There is large car park which has more than enough spaces.
We thought we’d give it a go seeing as it’s recently re-opened. We weren’t expecting much but were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. It’s not an extensive menu but what we were served was fab. The service was very efficient and the staff really friendly. The beer selection has changed since reopening but a very nice pint of Tim Taylors was served. What this place needs now is more customers to remain open so locals need to get behind it.
Lovely new staff, happy to see its reopened. Manager and staff do everything to give us back our local gem. Vlad and Sumit were very nice and had a great conversation as well as allowing us to have a try of the new menu. Food definitely stepped up since the reopening. Thanks chef
Popped in for lunch after a long walk. Our food and drinks were served very quickly which was great as we were very hungry. The food was of a decent standard and the price was very reasonable. The best thing about our experience was how lovely and friendly the staff were and they were clearly trying really hard to ensure our experience was a good as possible especially in times were hospitality is really struggling! My only feedback would be to add more selection of food choices eg sandwiches to the Sunday lunch menu as I don’t like roast dinners. We had burgers which were really nice.
Horrendous service, staff didn't know what they had in stock, so after ordering we had to amend it. Food took so so long even though the restaurant was not busy at all. One of the mains didn't come out until everyone had finished eating and two sides didn't come out at all. Everything was really slow and we cancelled desserts after a long long wait. Management didn't seem to care about the issues and did very little to rectify it. A very frustrating and disappointing afternoon on a day when we were celebrating a birthday. The food that did arrive was tasty. Definitely won't be going back, very surprised and disappointing at how the place is run.
It was a shame to see the pub so empty on a bank holiday Monday lunchtime. We had great service and the food was very good. It was a set menu with a heavy Indian food bias. The chicken tikka starter was delicious as was the fish and chips, and burger mains. The accompaniments to the meals were also very good. The playlist of songs being played in the background was excellent. The only criticism was that we ordered orange juice and lemonade which came as j2o and lemonade so cost £5.20! Otherwise a near perfect lunch experience.
Such a shame! Cutlery was covered in water marks as were the glasses; one of the glasses also had a lipstick stain on the rim. We ordered starters, one of which was fresh sourdough with oil etc and what came out was a bake at home baguette which was served which at £6.95 - ridiculous. The same baguette was served with the soup and pâté. Also, one member of our table got their main with the other starters which was sausage and mash. This came out on a starter plate with mash potato NOT FRESH and two sausages. No vegetables and a small amount of gravy on the side. By the time we got our mains we had been there 1h 30mins. There was no salt and pepper on the table and no mains cutlery. The steak sandwich was something which could be made very cheaply at home and was not worth the money. There was also a staff member who hadn’t been trained and wasn’t even shown how to carry plates he was just told off at the table. Our bill was then given to us where we were overcharged. Such a shame as the pub is so lovely with a good menu. Just needs small details paying attention to and the food needs to be served as per the menu and with better quality ingredients.
The table was booked for 13.30. We asked them to slightly delay our starters as 2 party members were unfortunately stuck in the traffic on the M40. We then gave the go a head and starters arrived. One had to be prompted. The sourdough bread were pre part baked rolls not fresh as stated. We then had a long wait for the mains. We felt sorry for the staff as we were told the chef had not turned up we later found out this not to be true. We had 3 children with us who understandably were getting rather hungry. By 16.15we cancelled our food as they were too hungry. It then arrived. We sent it back. Had the home made cake we had brought and left. This review does not in any way reflect the service of the tall dark waiter who quite frankly was a one man band trying to keep the day together. He needs a raise. A complimentary round was offered which was accepted but that was on the promise food was 15minutes away not over an hour. Such a shame as the pub shows potential
