I was told of great things about this place and my family chose this pub as a lunch venue after spending the morning in Hatfield Forest. What a disappointment it turned out to be. Service was extremely slow, both for food and drinks. Yes we were told the place is short staffed but honestly, waiting nearly an hour for starters and mains? It wasn’t even busy. Portion sizes, for the price you pay, is extremely shocking. Food lukewarm to cold. The fried egg on my mother’s gammon was burnt to cinders underneath, and my burger tasted burnt on the bottom of the patty as well. My uncle complained to a waiter and he got a free drink. It’s a good thing I don’t live in the area. If I did, I’d certainly go elsewhere. Only reason for one star is because the waitress serving us seemed a nice person.
Excellent service and friendly staff. Food was good and you could tell the chef cared about what they sent out. Yes it's not Michelin star food but this is a pub. I was apprehensive about going due to the lowish rating on Google but don't be fooled. This place is good :
Today our family of 8 adults and 2 children came for lunch to celebrate our Sisters birthday who came from Scotland for the weekend. The food was great and the service was amazing especially when we heard they were 4 staff down. The 2 waiters I’m sorry I didn’t get their names were very helpful and friendly absolute heroes , well done.
We did that thing where you look for somewhere nearby to an airport that’s nicer and cheaper to eat and we found this place. What a beautiful building, full of character! Once inside we were greeted by a friendly team member and service was fantastic. It was a fairly busy evening with what appeared to be only two staff on the floor but they coped admirably. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area
Pub in a lovely place and very quiet. Very good menu, big car park and lots of outside tables. But you are on the fight path to Stansted Airport!
Very popular for a very good reason - food, ambience and prices. Recommend reservation at popular times. Easy parking. Menu always offers typical selection plus many selections that you don't necessarily expect from a pub. After years of visiting, never had to complain about anything. Deserving of five stars.
Was able to book a table 20 mins before we wanted to go. The waitresses were super friendly and easy to warm to. The food did take a little while to come out but was honestly so worth the wait. The desert was incredible too. For two people it was good value for money.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO KAITLIN AND HER TEAM FOR SUCH A BRILLIANT CHRISTMAS GET TOGEHER. THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS AND LOVELY AND HOT, THE DRINKS FLOWED WITH NO QUEUES AT THE BAR. ALL THE STAFF WERE BRILLIANT AND 5 ISNT A HIGH ENOUGH SCORE. WE ALL HAD A LOVELY TIME. THANK YOU AGAIN
We had a fantastic evening at the 3 horseshoes, there was 10 of us so it was a challenging feat to get all the food served up hot and at the same time. The food was very good value and the variety of dishes on the menu catered for everyone. A big thank you to Shelly and the staff for looking after us so well , we hope to be back soon
Terrible food and terrible service. The place was dead but told we could sit at the bar or in a dark, cold cave like space even though I had booked a table. Tables were sticky and didn’t look clean. Waited ages to get drinks, told there was a 30/40 minute wait on food then it came in about 5 minutes… it was warm not hot and everything just chucked on the plate. Poor quality too. Not many staff around but pretty useless behind the bar. Would not recommend. Would not visit again. Very disappointing!
