This meal was very average. It got two stars because the food didn't match the prices, or the expectations set out by the menu. We were not from the area, so cannot compare to other local restaurants. But little things, like a lightly toasted bread basket, tells you enough to know whether the bread is fresh or artisan clearly wasn't. A lack of consistency, e.g. one table being offered olive oil and balsamic, and us, only butter demonstrates a lack of professionalism. And finally, we both felt that the food reminded us of school dinners, or going to your nans if she was a very average cook!. It lacked finesse. I had to ask for more spinach with my dish fish, potatoes, spinach as it was literally like a garnish. We did however, think the venue was lovely and staff friendly, so would go back for a drink only.
Great find! This place is perfect for weekend lunch. We opted for outdoor seating which worked out very well. Food is really really good. Definitely try twice baked goats’ cheese soufflé and crayfish/cod/prawn fish cake! Staff is very polite and courteous.
We visited The Thatch on 11 February, and I can say, that the food was excellent, as usual. Becca, was professional, attentive and very knowledgeable. The food was superb, along with the wine. Compliments to James and the team. We will see you very soon.. Sue and Garry
We are regular customers there. Food is always excellent , great staff and service. Very welcoming and attentive. Price provides great value except the fish dish which is a bit minimalistic. Nice atmosphere. Ideal place to take visitors and guests out for a meal.Food: 5/5
Had Sunday lunch , for 10 people . Special birthday There is a private room which seats 9-13 , we were really looked after , everybody enjoyed their food , and we all had a great time. The birthday girl's dessert plate was decorated beautifully with "Happy Birthday" not asked for.
Really lovely Sunday lunch - such a range to choose from for a roast including two different types of beef and venison! and the chicken was some of the nicest I’ve had. We loved our starters too, and the staff and ambience were great. Would highly recommend!
I have eaten here once and food was very good. I booked on Open Table and have been called a "no show". This isn't true as I put in a call to get an automatic call-back as we could not park due to roadworks outside the restaurant. I did not get a call back and Open Table rebuked me for not turning up! I will not go here again based on this and the website should reflect more accurately the current parking situation.

We had the BEST Sunday roast here! Free veg, gravy, greens and Yorkshire top ups too!! Our waitress Josie was the best- so lovely and attentive. Thank you very much :
We were a party of 4 and all had the Sunday Roast beef it was delicious, tender thick slices, super roasted vegetables and what they did with the curly kale was delightful. Would definitely go again, well done 'The Thatch' Food: 5/5
