The Tea House

About

Specialist Tea Merchant

Story

THE TEA HOUSE opened at 15 Neal Street, Covent Garden, in 1982.

It’s purpose was to sell tea in all it’s varieties together with herbal and fruit infusions and a selection of tea pots and other items used for the service of tea.

The shop, packaging and signage were all of modern design and quite different from the very old fashioned surroundings in other tea houses and department store food halls which seemed at that time to concentrate on aristocratic connections, Royal Palaces, Edwardian Garden Parties and Victorian Afternoon Tea.

The Tea House maintains its modernity and the style remains much the same as in 1981 but the product has developed – especially in the directions of Green Teas and healthy drinking.

Earl Grey and English Breakfast have always been our best selling teas and remain as popular as when we started. Many of the new products are caffeine free or low in caffeine including Green and White teas from Japan and China. Also Rooibos (Red Bush) from South Africa and Whole Fruit infusions (which contain no Black Tea) and new Blends of herbal infusions such as “Detox”. Customers often come for these with their Doctor’s recommendation!

Many of the teas are still hand packed on the Covent Garden premises. Part of our customer service is to advise customers on the different content and qualities of our product as well as introducing them to many products which they have never before tasted.

I really love this place. It's a little gem of a shop. Unlike some of the chains, the Tea House is unique. Friendly and helpful staff and the choice of teas are just fantastic.
They got my order ready and shipped out… They got my order ready and shipped out very quickly and it was exactly what I wanted. I was very pleased with the whole experience.
Exceptionally good tea. I usually go to T2 or Bird & Blend but this little place has it all! Japanese/Chinese green teas, chais, black teas and blends. The only downside is that the staff don't seem particularly knowledgable compared with the other places I've been. However the tea is enough to give this place 5 stars.
Great tea shop, pricy on some items but cheap on others. Teas tried have been high quality.
