I regret to say that my experience at this bed and breakfast was disappointing. The bedding had an unpleasant odour, likely from being left damp, which made for an uncomfortable night's sleep—I ended up covering myself with my own sweater instead of the duvet. The floor was in such poor condition that I felt impossible walking on it barefoot. Unfortunately, the bathroom and toilet were also not clean, which added to the overall discomfort. As for breakfast, the "buffet" consisted of a few cereal options, some fruit, and snack bars—not what I would consider a proper breakfast. Additionally, the entrance through the back staircase felt more like the setting of a horror movie than a welcoming place to stay. The front door was not available. The only redeeming aspect of my stay was the friendly host, who was kind and accommodating. However, this alone does not make up for the many shortcomings of the accommodation.
I really enjoyed my stay here this weekend! The owner and staff are so friendly and welcoming they really made us feel at home. The rooms were super quiet which was perfect for us to get rest, the beds were comfortable, the facilities were very clean! The breakfast was help yourself which I actually prefer over the usual "breakfast is served at X time" setup that most BnB's have. I have a chronic illness which revolves around my diet, so not being restricted on time or anything like that was absolutely perfect for me. Everything that me and my fiancé needed was right there, we could make ourselves tea morning, noon, night, anytime! We felt comfortable which is everything you want when staying away from home right? The BnB felt very safe to stay in, the rooms and doors are all completely secure, and the location of the BnB was again, perfect for what we needed! We were visiting our family who are local to Blyth, everywhere we needed to get too this weekend was within walking distance and for the price we couldn't have been happier. We will definitely be staying here again for future visits to see our kin! Rooms: Our room was quiet, comfortable and very clean! Perfect little weekend away. Walkability: We could easily access every place on foot that we needed to get too for the whole weekend we were there. Noteworthy details: Breakfast is help yourself, perfect for anybody like me who needs more flexibility with their eating routines!
Late arrival, good services by the owner. The house under refit downstairs so couldn't really tell, and ended up going the back alley. Difficult going up the stairs carrying a tired toddler and bag. ATM is not recommended for people who have trouble going up outside upside the stairs. However you can exit and enter via the back door without through the building. The room was a good size, lovely, warm and relaxing with TV drawer and wardrobe. The bathroom and shower are all to share with other 5 rooms. Not recommended for those who don't do sharing with others or require a bathroom for themselves. The shower is ok but can be a squeeze with a young toddler when drying or to put her in pj, as my daughter fell over in the sea that evening. There are two toilets and a sink in between. DIY breakfast which isn't my liking unfortunately but nice idea, notice it comes and goes during the day however I find the kitchen left a little mess when I need water which puts me off a little. The building itself is on the corner of three different roads so be careful when looking for parking as I am almost undecided where to park when I arrive. The car park is on the road, so if you are lucky or not, you can find parking next to or far distance from b+b and it is also near the park and beach. Overall we stop over one night as we travel back home from halfway point from Scotland. Recommend solo or couple to stop at this b+b than family ideal or 2/3 night max as it does have a good selection of things to do near the location. The view is just street houses. Mine is facing opposite shop premiers I think.
We were met by the owner who was nice and friendly. They were decorating at the front of the hotel so we had to go round the back and go up an iron fire escape which wasn't a problem for us . It was cheap and you get what you pay for so i cant compline to much . However the carpets weren't fitted properly and a trip hazard. Im not convinced the doors were fire proof and someone was smoking in the room next to us that the corridor was stinking and so was our room , this is obviously not the owners fault that customers abuse the rules. The room was ok but wasn't very clean and breakfast was shocking. Everything in the fridge was off and frozen as the setting must of been to high. There wasn't even any butter for the toast and all the cereal bars had been taken. The quilt was extremely thin and old and i could go on . Would i personally stay here again no . However it is central and good for families with not much money or lads weekend away.
So far, so good. Only 4 more nights to go.....Rooms: 5/5
The Tavern is a real bed and breakfast. The owner showed us everything and it was super easy. It is easy to find there are enough parking spots available and rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast area has everything you need, including refrigerator, a hot plate and kitchen sink. There are cereals, milk, yogurt, bread, butter, croissants and a lot of fresh delicious fruits. If you should miss something, over the street is a real good baker, a minimarket and a take away. The owner showed us a real good restaurant at the seaside. Just ask him. Thank you very much, we enjoyed our time.
We only stayed for one night, but it was a good stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was big, clean and had comfortable beds. Although it was above the pub, it wasn't noisy and the band finished playing at a reasonable time. Toilets, showers and sinks were clean, maybe the showers need a little new paint. Breakfast was good with toast and cereals. We would stay again.
I wouldn t recommend it! No toilet in the rooms, but 2 sharing showers and toilets in the corridor for 5 or 6 rooms. Even though on booking said opened 24 hours, at 01.00am was closed and the manager was kind of cranky he was woken up to check in. Breakfast was included in the booking but all we got were some biscuits, cereals and instant coffee. No hot breakfast! The windows are not closing completely and the linen was not changed. This facility should be closed!!
Had to arrive through the back entrance and climb metal stairs with heavy bags. Room had 2 single beds, mattresses felt really cheap and weren't comfortable. Shared bathroom across landing next to a self service breakfast station. Not a lot within walking distance and parking wasn't great. Car window had been spat on over night.Rooms: 3/5
It was nice as soon as we arrived, small room but not like I needed the space, customer service was friendly and very attentive. I recommend if anyones looking for a place to stay, put your bags and see the rest of the cute little island, close to amenities Safety: Rooms and doors are fob and key protected Walkability: Get a taxi, Lots around, not a far walk from bus stops Food & drinks: Everything you need in walking distance.
