Quality renovation & friendly staff, lovely outside areas. Standard Greene King menu, as you would expect, but all cooked well and piping hot.
Had a lovely Sunday roast here today. Great roast potatoes! Staff very friend. Quick service, didn't take long for our food to arrive. Nice comfortable pub. Great old building full of character.
Tend to find this place a little hit and miss. It has recently had an almost complete change of staff and they still seem to be finding their way. Haven't eaten here for a while as I find little to excite me, as a vegetarian, on the menu but we will revisit in a little while to see if things have improved. The new manager does seem keen to build up trade and he has introduced such things as bingo and card nights. The Thursday night quiz has had a revamp and is very popular, so much so that it is hard to find a table that hasn't been reserved by the 'regulars'.
Advertised food is available until 9pm. I entered the pub about 8.40 and found a menu, ordered and paid for the daily special and a drink. Sat down and 10 minutes later an embarrassed and really nice young waitress came to my table and said, ‘sorry I have to refund your food, the last orders for food is 8.45’. I’m sorry, but the head of kitchen needs sorting. Now I’m leaving to get a takeaway and a drink elsewhere and won’t return - I made my thoughts known to the lady cleaning the kitchen at 9.25 as I left! This is otherwise a lovely pub. If this was my business I would be very angry at this.
Lunch was delicious, staff where so friendly and helpful, full of good humour. Reasonable prices for good food. Old fashioned but has a certain charm that you don't get with modern pubs. Would recommend
It's just a little market town pub. Uninteresting range of beers, Green King IPA. Fairly quiet at 7pm, but food took 40 mins to come, for which they apologised. Food was fairly good. Some dodgy customers, who were rather unpleasant.
Horrible food bad service chicken was raw would not recommend
Lovely atmosphere but i paid and ordered for a vegetarian lasagna to then wait over a hour for my food not to come out and be told they had no vegetarian lasagna after i had paid . The waitress kindly made me a cheese and tomato pizza which i was grateful for but it wasn't cooked it was still dough but she tried but very disappointed
Had a great breakfast at the Swan and now waiting for Jax and Co playing live in the garden.
Lunchtime wanted a sandwich really had baguettes. Had a special - Steak melt baguette with chips and salad £6:50. Wow was enormous 10" baguette with large amount of both chips and salad. Was dinner size not lunch. Good service and no too long a wait.
